Julian Assange (Julian Assange), the founder of "WikiLeaks." Where is Julian Assange now?

Australian TV presenter and Internet journalist Julian Assange (photo) - a vivid example of an individual who cares about the fate of mankind. He was one of the first brave men who made information accessible to the people about top-secret materials, spoke in detail about espionage scandals and war crimes of the great powers of the world, and published numerous cases of corruption in the upper layers of power. For this he was persecuted, declared internationally wanted, repeatedly accused, arrested and tried.

Who is he - Julian Assange? How did a simple Australian journalist become the most influential person in the international media? What goals does he pursue? Who does Julian Assange work for? Where is it now? About this and many other things, read in the article.

One such

Despite all the persecution and threats from the secret services and other secret structures of the world, Julian Assange continues to implement what is most likely, except for him, no one else can do. This man is an example of inexhaustible courage and confidence. Only a person with a keen sense of justice and lack of fear is capable of what Julian Assange did. The biography of this journalist shows that the sense of duty to humanity was always above all for him.

Childhood and adolescence

Assange Julian, whose biography is full of struggle for truth, was born in the north-east of Australia in Townsville on July 3 in 1971. Julian's parents - John Shipton and Christine Hawkins - met in a popular demonstration against the military operations in Vietnam. Childhood of the boy passed without his father, as he and his mother broke up before he was born. The first acquaintance of Julian and his father happened when he was already twenty-five.

In 1972, when his son was barely a year old, Christine Hawkins married Richard Assange, who was the director of a vagabond theater. Since then, they have lived in permanent relocations. In 1979, Julian's mother broke up with Assange and began a relationship with musician Hamilton Leif. Soon, Julian had a brother. As it turned out later, her chosen one is a member of the "Family" sect, where it is customary to give newborn children to her leader Anne Hamilton-Bern. Fearing that her son would be taken away, her mother rushed to the run. So five more years of young Julian were in wanderings around the world.

Dangerous hobby

When Julian was 16, he got acquainted with programming. Together with like-minded friends, he created an organization of hackers, which he called "Worms Against Nuclear Killers". Members of the organization were guided by the code: to share information without damaging the system.

In 1991, Juliana and her associates were arrested for hacking the central data archive of a telecommunications company from Canada, Nortel Networks. Assange did not deny the deed, and paid the company a small fine - the damage was insignificant.

When a young hacker entered the University of Melbourne for higher education, he found that all the processes in the school were controlled by the military, and therefore did not continue studying.

After some time Julian Assange was accused of stealing five hundred thousand dollars from the account of "Citibank", but during the check suspicions were not confirmed.

Wikileaks

Julian Assange in 2006 became the creator of the so-called "factory of truth" - a site called WikiLeaks. The place where the main server of the resource will be based, Sweden was chosen, the most loyal country in relation to journalists. The first material that appeared on "WikiLeaks" concerned the decision of the Islamic Court of Somalia regarding the execution of government officials.

Later on the Assange resource began to appear and other classified information: about military operations in Iran and Afghanistan, as well as secret documents of the Pentagon. In addition to documentary materials, video recordings of the shooting of civilians were published, which led to an international scandal.

In October 2010, more than four hundred documents relating to military operations in Iraq were posted on the site.

In 2012, the "WikiLeaks" appeared materials proving the real state of affairs in Syria. The US government accuses the private army of Bradley Manning of leaking information. There is a suggestion that at the time when Manning worked as an analyst in Iraq, he brought a CD with music records to the office and wrote down an archive of high secrecy documents, among which were video footage of journalists' shelling. This disk, he subsequently handed to Assange for publication on the WikiLeaks. It is not known for sure whether this was in fact true, because the resource team never discovers informants, worrying about their safety. It is almost impossible to track the source, since the information is duplicated simultaneously on all servers of the resource before it reaches the page in Wikileaks.

Assange Julian. Biography. Persecution

The administration of US President Barack Obama has severely criticized the owners of the WikiLeaks for the publication of Syrian secret materials. In order to ensure its safety, the Assange team published on the site links to secret documents with a total volume of four hundred gigabytes, having protected them with a password. WikiLeaks announced that they would remove protection, and the information will become known to the whole world if any of the key figures of the organization suffer.

With the growth of the popularity of the resource "Wikileaks", interest in the identity of its founder from the side of the special services grew. In August 2010, in Sweden Assange was accused of sexual harassment, but the day after the publication of the "Afghan file" on Wikileaks, the charges were dropped.

In September of that year, the Swedish authorities again accused Assange of having failed rape. In November, the court ruled to arrest Julian, but his lawyer appealed this decision. The defendant moved to London, and in December Interpol issued a warrant for his arrest, and Assange was put on the international wanted list.

On December 7, Julian himself appeared at the station and was arrested. The warrant for his arrest was an order issued by the Swedish prosecutor's office. Attorney Assange explained the request for the extradition of his client with political motives.

A week later, on December 14, Assange released from custody after depositing a deposit of 240 thousand pounds. Before the trial, which was to be held on February 6, 2011, Julian Assange was in London under a written undertaking not to leave the country.

The court's decision

In the end, the London court decided to extradite Julian to Sweden, despite the fact that Assange's lawyers several times tried to appeal this decision, because there were no official charges against him. Swedish authorities claim that Julian Assange just want to interrogate and find out all the circumstances of the case. But the founder of WikiLeaks himself fears that the Swedish authorities will extradite him to the US.

In December 2010 it became known that all bank accounts and accounts in the international payment systems of Assange are frozen, the accounts of all Wikileaks employees in social networks "Facebook" and "Twitter" are blocked. In September 2012, the US declared Julian Assange an enemy of the country.

Political asylum in Ecuador

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador in 2010 offered Assange to grant him political asylum. In August 2012, he took advantage of their offer and took refuge in the embassy of this country in London. The police found this to be a violation of the agreements and said that they would arrest Assange as soon as he left the embassy.

For a year and a half, Julian Assange is in the embassy of Ecuador in London. There he lives in a small room, in which there is a bed, bookshelves, handmade shower, a round table, a computer, a lamp with UV radiation and a running track. Assange compares his habitat in the embassy with his stay at the space station. Julian makes up for the deficit of sunlight with the help of an ultraviolet lamp and taking vitamin D. Food is brought to him by embassy staff and friends.

Julian Assange today feels good, works for seventeen hours a day, is engaged on a treadmill, speaks to his like-minded people, receives guests. But the British government has already crashed into a penny for 20 months of careful surveillance of Assange - taxpayers, his stay at the embassy of Ecuador has already cost eight million dollars. It can be assumed that Assange will not voluntarily come to Sweden. And if he will be in the embassy until the statute of limitations of the claim expires (2022), for the UK it can cost more than sixty million dollars.

Public response to the arrest of Julian Assange

Members of the Anonymous community, who call themselves "Enemies of Enemies" WikiLeaks, "reported on the Twitter network that they assume responsibility for the cyberattacks of anyone who somehow or other contributed to the arrest of Julian Assange." Among the online resources that were attacked by cyberattacks were: The site of Interpol, the site of the government of Sweden, the United States, Australia and France, the Amazon.com platform, on whose servers Wikileaks worked for some time, and subsequently was evicted, PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, the Swedish prosecutor's site and other resources and accounts Si all those who participated or contributed to the arrest of Assange.

Autobiography by Julian Assange

According to the author, writing the book was a forced measure in connection with the financial difficulties of his team. It was necessary to reimburse huge expenses for the services of lawyers in the struggle for justice. He expected that such a literary work would cost a lot, and he was right. He managed to sell the rights to publish a book for a million pounds.

The autobiography, to the surprise of Julian himself, turned out to be very dramatic. When Julian Assange read the draft version of the book, he decided to cancel her publication - too much of it was personal. The author went against the rules and said that he wants to terminate the contract with the publisher, in spite of the fact that he had already paid a rather large advance, which he also managed to spend. The book was already expected in 38 countries. Therefore, the publisher's management took a desperate step - to repay the same coin. Julian Assange's autobiography was published without his consent.

The film "The Fifth Power"

Recently, a film about the creator of Wikileaks was released, which was created by Entertainment Weekly. Julian Assange and Daniel Domschayt-Berg after getting acquainted with the script of the film called it a frank high-budget lie. According to them, such pictures are removed on the order of corrupt structures with a specific purpose and contain incorrect, distorted and dangerous information. In the "Fifth Power" Assange saw anti-Iranian propaganda. The film begins with a scene that shows that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. Then the actions are transferred to Cairo, where an Iranian nuclear scientist tells the CIA agent that the bomb tests will be conducted in six months. But the US security services have long confirmed the absence of nuclear weapons in Iran, as Julian Assange noted.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays a major role in the film. In addition to him, the actors are actors such as Anthony Mackie, Daniel Brühl, Alicia Wickander, Laura Linney. The basis for the film was the journalistic investigations of Luke Harding and David Lee and the autobiographical story of the hacker who worked on WikiLeaks, Daniel Domstein-Berg. The director of the picture was the famous Bill Condon.

Personal life

Scandalously known hacker Julian Assange married at the age of 16 on the girl Teresa, who gave birth to his son Daniel in 1989. For fourteen years, Julian himself raised a child. Now he rarely sees his son, but he does not take offense at his father, but supports him in everything. Shortly before his arrest, Julian officially divorced from Theresa.
