John Heather: an actor who is not afraid to play losers

In 2007, on the screens there was a hilarious comedy "Blades of Glory: Stars on Ice", she madly liked the audience and earned at the box office almost three times more money than was spent on her shooting. Watching the attempts of the main characters to win Olympic gold, many viewers could not get rid of the feeling that the face of one of the main characters is familiar, but it was difficult to remember where they had seen him before. This familiar stranger was John Heider, who at that time already starred in several films in secondary roles, but was able to attract attention due to his unusual appearance.

early years

Born John (full name - Jonathan) in the distant 1977 in the American city of Fort Collins in the family of an American of Swedish origin, Dr. James Hider and his wife Helen. The boy's parents were Mormons, so in addition to the future celebrity, the family had five children. From his childhood, John was fond of swimming and dramatic art. Therefore, after graduation, he entered the university Brigham Young and began to study there film production. Since the yard was the end of the nineties and the computer animation industry began to develop actively, Heider decided to change his specialization and soon moved to another faculty - he studied animation.

The first works in the cinema

Even while studying at university, John decided to try himself as an actor. To do this, he and his brothers made a film "Funky Town". Unfortunately, this project was not successful and did not go into the rental, but Jonathan in it for the first time tried himself as an actor.

A few years later, one of his friends at the university suggested that the future star star in his short film about a weird high school student. This film was very popular with Brigham Young students, and also won several prizes at local contests. Encouraged by this success, friends decided to rework the script and on its basis to shoot a feature film. As a result, in 2004, Napoleon Dynamite, starring John Hider, appeared on the screen. The budget of this project was more than modest, only four hundred thousand dollars, but the success of this picture was colossal and brought its producers forty-five million. Unfortunately, as often happens in life, John himself earned for participation in such a successful project only one thousand dollars and not a cent more. However, the experience that he received due to the performance of the main role, helped him to decide on a future career. John Heider seriously decided to become an actor.

Despite modest earnings, "Napoleon Dynamite" made the novice actor quite famous and brought him four prestigious awards and many nominations. In addition, he was invited to appear in advertising. To top it off, John received a small but key role in the sweet comedy "Between Heaven and Earth." And although his partners on the set were stars such as Mark Ruffalo and Reese Witherspoon, the beginning actor managed not to get lost on their background, but rather to prove himself.

It can not be said that after the release of Khider's tape they were showered with proposals to withdraw, but over the next two years he starred in two more films, albeit not very successful, but for one of them Jonathan was nominated for prestigious awards from the Fox channel.

"Blades of glory: Star on the ice"

In 2007, John finally got the lead role. He was offered to star in a comedy about skaters dreaming of winning Olympic gold, which, due to disqualification in solo skating, is forced to ride together. Few could have guessed that the acting duo (Will Feral, John Hider) of the comedy would bring great success. And although Ferrell at that time was already quite a popular comedian who appeared in many successful films, his partner in skating and film set Heider was able to become worthy and perfectly perform his role. However, to participate in the film, the actor had to change his appearance and wear blue lenses and a white wig throughout the entire shooting period. Therefore, many of his viewers seemed vaguely familiar, they were very surprised to know who it was.

The voice of cartoons

After the grand success of Blades of Glory, John decided to change his field of activity a little. Although he still continued to play secondary roles in various films, as well as appear in television series and actively participate in many television shows, his professional love was the voice of cartoons. Two years before the movie about figure skaters, John Heider tried to voice one of the heroes of the animated series "Robotsyp". After that, he became the voice of Reginald Skulinski from the "Monster House". Soon the actor was seriously carried away by the voice acting of various characters. His voice was spoken by the rabbit Kung Fu, Ryu and his father from The Legend of Corra, Napoleon Dynamite from the cartoon film based on the film, and many others. Also John Heider voiced the characters of two popular video games: "Epic Mickey: Two Legends" and "Armcrog". I must say that although the voice of animated films does not bring the actor such popularity as shooting in the movies, nevertheless in this area Jonathan is very in demand, every year there are a lot of serials and cartoons, the characters of which speak the unique voice of John Hider.

Personal life of the actor

Like his parents, John Heider is a convinced Mormon, so he leads a healthy lifestyle, does not use alcohol and other potent drugs. Having married quite early by American standards, at twenty-five years old, he has been happily living with his wife Kirsten all these years, which is pleasantly different from most actors. In the family of Khiderov three wonderful children grow, they inspire their father in his work.

Although this actor is not a superstar, not many of his colleagues can boast of a similarly successful career as John Heather. Films with his participation, albeit not very many, were quite successful and ensured the glory of the talented artist. The main type of his characters - the average loser, which seeks to achieve something, despite all the obstacles, and in most cases still achieves the desired goal. Perhaps, thanks to this image, he also gained such a fervent love of spectators who see in his characters a reflection of themselves and, inspired by his example, try to change their lives for the better.
