A cashier is a fairly common profession, which has many varieties. You can try to generalize them and derive a single definition of this post. As a result, it turns out that the cashier - this is the employee who, during the performance of his duties, accepts, stores and properly records the incoming funds. To such a capacious definition, the cashier-accountant and the cashier of the trading enterprise, the currency cashier and the employee of the ticket offices are suitable. There are many options.

Typical sample instructions

If we consider in general terms, the cashier's job description is, in principle, one for all. Like all documents of this kind, it consists of four independent sections. The "General Provisions" provide information on the category, education, conditions of appointment and subordination of the employee. Further, all the knowledge and skills that the future cashier must necessarily possess are listed. Then in the second section "Official duties" there is a list of all types of work that will have to be performed daily by a specialist at his workplace. In fact, the cashier accepts the money and formalizes them accordingly. If worn out, worn out bills enter the cashier's office, the cashier's job description obliges the specialist to draw up their inventory properly and, together with it, transfer the banknotes to the bank's branch. In case of need, the cashier makes the issue of funds on the basis of the documents drawn up. The results of all incoming and outgoing transactions must be recorded in the cash book. At the end of the working day, the cash is handed over to the collectors and the actual balance is reconciled. On the basis of the documents compiled, cash records are formed. The job description of the cashier obliges him to be responsible for the safety of the available cash and other securities. The employee undertakes not to disclose secret information about the availability, transfer or possible transportation of valuables to third parties. Also, he is obliged to report in a timely manner all known circumstances that threaten the security of the funds entrusted to him. In addition, the cashier's job description obliges him unconditionally to carry out the instructions of his immediate supervisor. Usually the chief accountant is the chief of such a unit. The sections "Rights" and "Responsibility" are no different from those described in the instructions of employees of other specialties in this enterprise.

What the cashier should do

The job description of the cashier-controller looks somewhat different. In principle, it is an employee of a trading enterprise or a bank. Such a specialist, in addition to the usual cash operations, must possess accounting skills. His duties include prompt settlement with customers, receipt, storage and proper accounting of securities and cash. He is fully responsible for the values entrusted to him. For this purpose, the workplaces are specially equipped with individual safes. The cashier-controller of the bank conducts its work with the help of computer equipment, as well as auxiliary means. These include terminals for payments on plastic cards. Often they have to work with currency and this requires additional knowledge.

Cashier in the store

Very similar is the job description of the store cashier. Its functions include settlements with customers for services rendered and goods sold, on-line control of the availability and periodic replenishment of the assortment of goods, preparation of goods for sale, as well as acceptance, counting and delivery of funds in accordance with the procedure established by law. The scope of the duties of an employee of this specialty is much broader. The cashier-controller takes the money from the buyers, knocks out the check for the purchase (or service) on the cash register and, if necessary, gives the change. Here, the employee has to know well the range of goods and services offered, as well as all of his parameters and characteristics. Such a specialist has to work not only with goods and cash, but also with technical equipment. He should know perfectly well and be able to use the device for punches and other equipment. This, of course, requires additional special training.
