Creative origins

Known in certain circles, the country musician, Mickey Gilli, is the cousin of Jerry Lewis. It is Mickey, according to some critics, and the right to call himself the first teacher of Lewis. Already from childhood, Jerry Lewis begins to get involved in music, asks his cousin to teach him the basics of this art. Mickey, of course, could not refuse to his brother, and he, in turn, showed enviable persistence in his studies, learning to play the old piano. Sometimes Jerry even used the services of private teachers.

The Lewis family was very devout, which was reflected in it. After receiving a secondary education, Jerry enters the Texas Bible Institute. However, even here he does not leave the instrument, continuing to sharpen his skills. It was this hobby that later became the reason for expulsion from the university. More specifically, Jerry decided to perform the song "My God Is Real". The song itself did not seem blasphemous, but the Boogie style, in which Lewis performed it, allowed the teachers to count it as such.

After leaving the university, Jerry gave himself completely to his favorite occupation - music.

Music career and scandals

In 1958, Jerry Lewis, whose biography is now known to most fans of South American music, released his first album recorded at the studio. Over the title, the musician did not think long, calling this collection "Jerry Lee Lewis". Already this first studio work preceded Jerry into a real star. Some songs from this record became hits, they were played on the radio, and are still popular. But it's been more than 50 years!

Immediately after the release of this album, Jerry Lewis went on a tour of the US and Europe. The popularity and recognition of the singer and musician grew very rapidly. However, in his life there were unpleasant moments. So, Jerry married his niece, who by that time was only 13 years old. This fact has cooled the ardor of many fans of the musician, as a result of which numerous breakdowns of concerts followed, accordingly, losses were also made. Radio stations stopped broadcasting his songs, the mass media wrote about him only in a critical manner.

Only closer to the middle of the 60's, Jerry Lewis, photo of which every journalist of the yellow press knew, again began to give concerts and touring. The scandal was quietly forgotten, and the musician again began to gain popularity. He worked a lot and qualitatively. Literally every year he created a new album, and in all his career he released more than 40 of them.

Personal life

About this side of life, Jerry can talk for a very long time. His first marriage took place when the future musician turned 15 years old. He married the priest's daughter. The disintegration of this marriage was that ill-fated story with his niece. For 12 years, Jerry Lewis lived with her, and then the couple broke up. Later, other attempts were also made to find happiness in family life. More precisely, these attempts were as much as 5! All of them proved to be a failure. Some of them are caused by Jerry, who at one time was very addicted to alcohol and drugs. But there were accidents too. One of Lewis' wives was found in the pool drowned, the other died from an overdose of narcotic drugs. Jerry's last wife is his nurse. At the time of marriage, the musician was 76 years old, she is 62 years old. The marriage was registered in 2012.

Today

In 2015, Jerry Lewis celebrated his 80th birthday. Despite such an advanced age, the musician is still actively and efficiently working, performing at concerts, going on tour not only for his country, but also for Europe. He was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a biopic was shot about him, and not even one.
