"Izh-49" - a middle-class motorcycle for paved roads, was produced by the Izhmash plant from 1951 to 1958. A total of 507 603 two-wheeled vehicles came off the assembly line. Since "Izh-49" - a motorcycle with a long history, it became an exhibit of the museum of automotoring in Vladivostok. History

After the end of the Great Patriotic War, the machines of the Dampf Kraft Wagen (DKW) motorcycle factory were removed from the defeated Germany within the framework of reparation agreements. In the end, it was decided to send all the technical equipment to Izhevsk, to the Izhmash plant.

After several years of development and production of the DKW NZ 350 trial model, it became clear: German equipment is quite viable. Factory specialists began to prepare a technological line for the production of a medium-class road motorcycle. Enthusiasts of the Soviet automotor industry tried to create an exclusive copy with domestic characteristics. However, German equipment somehow forced specialists to follow German technologies.

Start of release

In 1951, the "Izh-49" model was launched into production, a motorcycle created on the basis of a German prototype. Tuning in most cases to "Izh-49" does not apply, since it is a machine of this class, when it is better to restore a motorcycle than to modify it in order to please the owner's imagination.
