Is the history of the Internet completed?

Back in the sixties of the twentieth century, the Agency for Advanced Research Projects (ARPA) under the United States Department of Defense established the very first network, which was the prototype of the now known global Internet. The network created, called ARPAnet, was experimental, and it was created to support research in the military sphere. The main principle of ARPAnet was the possibility for any computer at any time to connect with any other computer connected to the Network. So the story of the Internet began.

As early as December 1969, four nodes were already connected to the network, using NCP (Network Control Protocol) protocol to transmit data packets. Ten years later, work began on creating the current TCP / IP protocol, when the experimental ARPAnet network was announced in 1975 as a working one.
So, the history of the creation of the Internet began with the ARPAnet network, the purpose of development of which was initially the opportunity for all participants of military developments not only to maintain communication on computer networks, but also to use together the resources of all the small computers that existed at that time, located in different cities of the country.

These prospective studies attracted the attention of many research groups and individual researchers with whom DARPA conducted numerous coordinating meetings. The history of the creation of the Internet also suggests that for the coordination and management of the development of Internet protocols, a special Configuration and Management Group was created, which existed until its reorganization into the Internet Activity Group in 1983. The need to create this group stemmed from the fact that a lot of researchers have already participated in the TCP / IP project.

The TCP / IP protocols in 1983 were already adopted as military standards in the United States. After this important step that influenced the activity with which the history of the Internet began to develop in the world, all computers in ARPAnet, called hosts, began to be required to work only with these protocols. It was at this time that the Internet was also used, referring to both the isolated MILNET network, which was an unclassified part of the DDN (Defense Data Network), and the new, greatly reduced in size ARPAnet. Thus, the history of the Internet is closely connected with the ARPAnet network, which has become the prototype of the modern Internet.

In 1985, the history of the Internet in the world received a new impetus: on the basis of ARPAnret, a new network was created, called the National Science Foundation NETwork (NSFNET), or the Network of the National Science Foundation, to which six major research centers were located, America and equipped with powerful supercomputers. A new network, called Internet TCP / IP or the Internet, was created to help researchers from different universities in America access the computing resources of supercomputers connected to the network so that every engineer and scientist in the country can have a connection to a single network, and already in 1985 The number of organizations connected to the Network has increased dramatically.

Many institutions, including educational and commercial ones, have discovered huge opportunities for exchanging data, which is fraught with a new technology. A large number of computers connected to the network caused overloading of networks and control computers, so soon more rapid telephone lines began to be used for network organization.

A completely revolutionary change in the structure of the Internet occurred in May 1993, when instead of the backbone network, so-called "access points" or NAPs began to operate, in which small private backbone commercial networks could interact. Thus, the NSFNET network, which was the main one, closed down, giving way to the architecture of NAP, which, in effect, turned into the Internet.

However, the true flourishing of the Internet coincided with the advent of the Web - the World Wide Web or WWW, based on a new technology that uses hypertext documents, which allows users to have access to any information posted on the Web. Web technology WWW is the main Internet service, unlike the previous service for accessing remote supercomputers Telnet.

At present, the history of the creation of the Internet is far from over. Perfection of the global network is continuous and inevitable. The number of users and their needs is growing, which leads to the growth of the Network, new problems, searching for their solutions and further improving technologies. Now, as evidenced by the history of the Internet, the Network is used not only by professionals, but also by a lot of students, schoolchildren and other people all over the world who want to keep pace with the times.
