Although the Quran does not contain details of the life of the prophet, it includes certain data that deserve attention.

History of the Prophet Ibrahim

The future prophet was born near the majestic city of Ur. He spent his childhood in a cave, seeing only the mother who brought him food. Then he left the cave and came to his father, wanting to comprehend the mystery of the universe. Before his eyes appeared idols, which the father and people honored, but the future prophet could not understand the idolaters. After a while, Ibrahim with Father Azar and other family members moved to Harran, because they professed the same religion as in their hometown.

Since Azar was an idolater, it was to him that Ibrahim first appealed, calling for monotheism. In the Qur'an, it is described that knowledge was discovered to him, which was not open to anyone else, so he called for a "right" path. But Azar rejected this appeal, because such a position of the son did not coincide with traditions and norms, which were established for many years. Then the prophet Ibrahim addressed the same to the people. He claimed that idols are enemies, except God who created man and leads him on the right path. As an example, he leads the stars and the moon, which at that time were not known, which was attributed to power and strength. But they could not come and go when they wanted, but only at a certain time. The same was true of the sun.

The prophet proved that God is not a force, but a being that created the world and people. And it is not necessary to see him to worship him. He claimed that he was entrusted with the transmission of revelation to people. But the people, like their father, rejected the call of Ibrahim, he only mocked him. Ibrahim confronts his people and family to communicate the message of faith in one God. For his faith he was rejected and expelled. However, despite this, the prophet was ready for stronger tests.

Destruction of idols

When it was time to reinforce your arguments with deeds, the prophet attempted to destroy the idols so that people could turn to the One God. So, when there was a religious holiday and all people left the city, Ibrahim the prophet did not go with everyone, saying that he was sick. When the city became empty, he entered the temple and saw idols, which later was blown to pieces, except the main one. Returning, everyone was shocked and, remembering about Ibrahim, called him immediately. The priests asked him if he did not know who had abused their idols, to which the prophet answered, so that they asked about this most important idol that remained untouched. The unconvincing logic of the priests did not allow them to give the prophet a reasonable answer, and they in anger and fury sentenced him to be burned alive. Ibrahim did not shudder in the face of death, his faith and the truth of his convictions only strengthened. However, the Lord saved him, because the prophet was prepared another fate: he was to become the father of one of the great prophets. That's why the fire did not harm Ibrahim.

The test of obedience

At the command of the Lord, the prophet Ibrahim goes to Canaan, and when there is a famine he goes to Egypt with his wife Sarah, where he meets Hajjar, takes her into concubines, so she gives birth to a son (Sarah could not have children). So the son Ismail is born to the prophet.

When he was very young, by the will of Allah, Ibrahim sent the family to the Hijaz. This was a hard test, for the son was very welcome. Once the prophet dreamed that he should sacrifice his only son. He pondered this for a long time, trying to understand if it was Satan's machinations. Making sure that this is the will of God, he faced a choice - to act as a father or as a believer. He turned to his son, wanting to know what he thought about it, and received an answer, according to which, he had to do as Allah ordered. Prophet Ibrahim and son Ismael prayed for a long time, and the first was ready to do what he saw in a dream, as God addressed him, saying that he justified the vision, proved his faith, and he no longer needs to kill his son.

And the victim was brought in the form of a ram. Allah commanded the prophet to eat a ram and treat everyone with this meat, who needs it. Through this covenant, Muslims share their food with those who God cared for, every year on the day of the sacrifice, called Yaum al-Nahr.

The construction of the temple

When Ibrahim the prophet returned to Palestine, a spirit appeared to him, pleased with the news that he would have a son named Iskhak. Soon Allah ordered the prophet together with Ismail to build a place where they would worship God-the Ka'ba, in the desert where he had once left his son with a concubine. Here they will have to pray and make pilgrimage. Thus, the Ka'ba is the first house of worship, destined for all mankind. To this day, thousands of pilgrims come here to honor the memory of the prophet and pray to God.

Prayers of Ibrahim

Building a temple is the best form of expression of devotion to God. Ibrahim and his son prayed to Allah and asked him to show him the rites of worship. He also asked that among the descendants of his sons there would be prophets who would honor and worship God. The construction of the temple was a guarantee that the worship of the One God would not cease until the end of the centuries. The Koran contains many prayers that were put in the mouth of the prophet. In them he asks God for his son, intercedes for those who have sinned, asks to bless his land and people. Being saved from the fire, he in the future asks Allah to pardon his father, but receives a refusal. Due to this, the Koran preaches the statement about the inevitability of punishment for those who do not believe in the One God.

Pilgrimage

So the prophet Ibrahim in Islam Became a prominent figure. His call was heard by many. Every year Muslims from all over the world gathered in Mecca for the pilgrimage, called Hajj. He embodies the events of the life of Ibrahim and his family. After the pilgrims bypass the Kaaba, they drink water from the source of Zam-Zam.
