How to teach a child to ski. Basic Techniques

Winter sports have always liked children's dynamism, unusual and a sea of gay impressions. The positive impact of classes is hard to overestimate. How to teach a child to ski and correctly approach the organization of such events will be prompted by proven simple recommendations.

First steps

Beginning to teach children skiing can be at the age of 4 years. Earlier, as orthopedists say, classes will strongly influence the skeleton and can lead to an inharmonious formation of the body's systems.

If the baby is already 4 years old, you can fully delve into the technique of how to teach a child to ski.

Selection of equipment

For the first session it is better to find skis up to 70 cm in length. Permanent equipment should be similar to the height of the child or a maximum of 5 cm more than him.

It is better to choose a running gear, since it is equipped with good fasteners.

Teaching a child to ski at a more adult age, when his height exceeds 120 cm, pick up the equipment should follow the same rule as for adults. The length of the equipment should be equal to the distance measured from the floor to the elongated palm of the young athlete, and in no case longer.

Teaching children skiing up to 5 years usually does not involve the use of equipment sticks.

But you should provide for a special towing rod about 30 cm in size. It is tied to a good rope about 3 m in length. The towing rod is used as an auxiliary element for the baby to feel the correct, real slip.

It is best to use boots with a blunt toe, which should be longer than the width of the fastening strap by 3-4 cm.

Of the clothes, the best option would be a woolen sweater, a special ski suit with a napkin and a knitted hat.

We teach children to ski, while still at home, so that the child is accustomed to the dimensions of the equipment and its weight.

Getting Started

Teaching children to ski is necessary with mastering a simple stepping step. Place the sticks aside. The kid is offered to lift (show how it's done) the right foot and stamp it, and then do the same with the left foot. The exercise repeats several times.

After the step is tried, you can begin to study the sliding step. To do this, you must take the main rack of the skier: in the knees, the legs should be slightly bent, and the body tilts slightly forward.

On the right foot, the center of gravity is transferred, while it is not detached from the snow, and sliding along the surface is carried forward. At the moment when the right ski stops, the exercise is done with the left foot.

The child must understand that the more he pushes away from the snow, the longer the slip occurs.

When this exercise is mastered, you should take ski poles and go through the snow with a sliding step, which will now be obtained even more quickly.

If the right leg goes forward, then the emphasis is on the stick in the left hand. And vice versa.

Study of lifting technique

The technique of lifting on a hill of average steepness will help to teach a child to climb on skis along the slope.

Climbing "half-cheeked" consists in setting one ski with its base on the surface, and the second - obliquely, with an emphasis on the rib. The sock remains away from the first ski.

Another way is called "ladder". Left side, the baby turns to the snow slide. The skis are parallel to each other. The left leg goes up parallel to the base of the lift. The second leg is attached to the first one. This step is used for a steep slope. You can also lean on sticks.

Descent and braking

In order to teach the child skiing skills, special attention should be given to descent and braking.

Before slipping from the slide, the child must take the correct position. The skis are set straight and close to each other. During descent along the slope, it is necessary to perform springing movements. The steeper the hill, the stronger the legs bend in the knees.

One of the key points in how to teach a child to ski is the braking technique.

First try to stop the movement on a steep slope. The main technique is called "half-plow". On the first ski, going straight, the weight is transferred, and the sock is turned to the first and makes emphasis using the inner rib.

With the correct execution of this technique, the braking is smooth. Having mastered the method on a gentle slope, you should try stopping traffic on steeper slopes.

In search of an answer to the question of how to teach a child to ski, you must carefully approach the choice of equipment and techniques for mastering the basic elements of skiing. There can be no doubt that with the proper approach to organizing such an event, skating on the slides will bring a lot of fun, bright and unforgettable impressions to the child and to the parents.
