How to remove 360 Total Security: step by step instructions

360 Total Security - an antivirus application developed in China, but the way it is distributed sometimes resembles the behavior of malware and adware: software is built into the installers of other products. A user who does not look at the installer's settings finds a new and often unnecessary program on his computer, uninstalling which often causes difficulties. The application has an anti-virus with the well-known Avira engine and the less popular Bitdefender. In addition, the utility has tools such as built-in firewall, a cloud protection system, blocking suspicious sites.

The developers claim that the product successfully competes with many commercial programs, and free utilities are not even taken into account in the comparison.

360 Total Security in Russian is available in two versions. The first includes only the means to protect the computer. The second one has the word Essential in its title. In addition to the above, it is designed to optimize the computer and clean up the operating system from debris.

There is, however, in a barrel of honey and a fly in the ointment. When the user decides that the utility does not need it and tries to uninstall it, errors appear in the standard, seemingly process: the deletion functions are completed without any result. The anti-virus is built-in protection, because of it and there is a lion's share of problems. How to remove 360 Total Security manually

To erase all application files, you do not need to have the technical skills of a system administrator, even a child can cope with it. The only requirement that must be met is that all actions must be performed in the same order as in the instructions.

  1. Double-click the antivirus icon in the Windows tray.
  2. The main program window will be displayed. Go to the settings and open the "Basic" menu. Uncheck the box next to "Enable Self-Defense" and "Disable Active Protection".
  3. In the "Active Protection" menu, make sure that the "Enable protection during system startup" feature is disabled.
  4. Close the main application window.
  5. Click the icon in the tray with the right mouse button.
  6. Select "Exit" in the drop-down list. This inscription is at the very bottom. Anti Total 360 Security will warn you that after this operation the computer will remain unprotected, and will ask if you really want to close the program. Confirm your choice.
  7. Expand the Start menu and go to Control Panel.
  8. Find the "Programs" subsection and click on this label.
  9. In the list, find the line 360 Total Security, click on it and click on the "Delete" button that appears.
  10. The standard uninstall window will be displayed. In it remains only to click on "Continue", and after the completion of the process - to "OK".

How to remove 360 Total Security: Erasing the remaining files

  1. Restart the computer, otherwise you will not be able to clear the remnants of the antivirus files - the directory will be closed for recording, and the window with an error will pop up on the screen.
  2. Open "Explorer" by clicking on the "Computer" icon or by pressing the Win + E key combination.
  3. Navigate to the C: \ Program Files folder. If a 64-bit system is installed on the PC, 86 will be added to the directory name.
  4. Move the cursor to the inscription 360, right-click and select "Delete".

Cleaning the system registry

During operation, the 360 Total Security anti-virus creates entries in the Windows registry. At the same time, they are not deleted during deinstallation. Theoretically, you can get rid of them manually, but in practice, a full study of the lines with the settings in the editor's built-in regedit takes a very long time. It's best to use the third-party application CCleaner. The utility is completely free, and you can download it from the official developer site.

  1. Run the CCleaner.
  2. Go to the section called "Registry".
  3. Start scanning by clicking on "Search".
  4. When the operation is completed, click on the "Fix" line and confirm your choice.

The program will remove the entries in the registry that the 360 Total Security program has created. The rest of the garbage accumulated during the user's work time will also be deleted after this procedure.

Revo Uninstaller

  • Find the antivirus icon in the opened window, move the cursor to it;
  • Expand the context menu by right-clicking the mouse;
  • Select "Delete";
  • In the menu named "Performing the initial analysis" select "Advanced mode" and click on the "Scan" line;
  • After some time, the window with the registry keys found will appear on the display, tick all items written in bold, and click on the "Delete" button, click on the "Next".
