Trumpet basket

Here we will describe the technique of weaving from newspaper tubes for beginners using the example of a basket:

  1. Prepare two identical thick sheets of cardboard, double-sided adhesive tape, PVA glue, newspaper tubes and scissors (picture 1).
  2. Take one sheet of cardboard and paste two-sided adhesive tape along its edge (picture 2).
  3. Spread newspaper tubes around the perimeter of the cardboard a couple of centimeters apart (Figure 3).
  4. Lubricate another sheet of cardboard with glue (picture 4).
  5. Glue a second sheet of cardboard on top of the tubes (picture 5).
  6. Make one very long newspaper tube.
  7. Bend the new tube in half and put it on the extreme left or right (picture 6).
  8. Weave one line of braids from the horizontal tube. That is, its halves are twisted vertically crosswise. If the tube is over, then insert a new one, first gluing the tip of the adhesive.
  9. Now put on the bottom a box that is suitable in size and lift the tubes vertically.
  10. Using the clothespins, attach the tubes to the walls of the box.
  11. Now make a series of braids. You can grab a tube with not one, but two vertical membranes.
  12. Weave several rows in this way. Their number depends on how high the basket you want.
  13. Complete the basket in two ways:
  • Stabbing vertical tubes cut off at the last to the last horizontal row and drip into place the cut PVA glue. We catch a clothespin and wait for complete drying.
  • The protruding tubes are cut to ten centimeters. Then each bend the adjacent one and bend it into the loop inward. Also we drip glue and we catch a clothespin.

To keep the product as long as possible, it must be processed. For this, mix in proportions one to one PVA glue and acrylic paint. Take a wide paint brush (with it will be more convenient to work) and paint the basket in this order:

  • Internal walls;
  • Internal bottom;
  • External edges;
  • Outer bottom.

If desired, the basket can be varnished.

In the same way, round bowls are made. Just for the basis is taken oval-shaped cardboard.

  6. Stop the weaving by wrapping the leading tube around the vertical one and fixing all the ends with glue (picture 6).
  7. Make only four or five of these petals (picture 7).
  8. Then tear the newspaper into small pieces and soak it for a couple of hours in the water.
  9. When the newspaper turns into gruel, pour out excess water and add PVA glue.

  11. Blind the resulting mixture cake. This will be the center of the flower.
  12. While the center dries, prepare the petals.
  13. Give them a more natural form and paint with a mixture of acrylic and PVA glue.
  14. When all the details have dried, you need to collect them.
  15. Take the glue gun and glue the petals to the back of the middle (picture 9).

  5. Perform the same procedure for all the bottoms (Figures 6-11).
  6. Then start lifting the tubes that you are braiding (picture 12).
