How to learn to read fast

How to learn to read quickly is an urgent and difficult, but decisive question. One of the mandatory conditions for the success of independent learning is a conscious desire, perseverance and practice.

The technique of rapid reading consists of several exercises that should be mastered. All exercises "work" independently, but are interrelated by a common idea - changing attitudes to the process of perception and assimilation of information.

In the context of one article, it is impossible to disclose the content of all exercises.

Each exercise has a different weight fraction in increasing the reading speed. We can distinguish two basic exercises of decisive question - how to learn to read quickly.

We will consider them.

We learn to read slowly, gradually increasing our speed as we acquire and master new skills of mental activity.

To monitor the progress achieved, you should immediately start a diary.

At the beginning of the diary, you must determine and note the initial reading speed. It is determined by the formula: The number of characters in the text is divided by the time spent in its reading in minutes and multiplied by the coefficient of understanding the meaning of the read.

The coefficient that determines the understanding of the content of the reading is determined by analyzing the answers to questions about the text. Each correct answer is assigned 0.1 points. The correct answers to all 10 questions will be 1 point.

The first entry in the diary will be the first step in deciding how to learn how to read quickly.

The first and most difficult exercise is to learn how to suppress articulation when reading.

Articulation is the main problem of "speed reading". Suppression of articulation is the most difficult exercise of all.

When doing the exercise, you need to remember that not only the pronunciation of words (muttering or whispering) is excluded, but a new way of inner speech is created. He perceives the text only through visual recognition. Components of speech and hearing are completely excluded.

To exclude articulation during reading, you must constantly distract yourself with rhythmical movements of your fingers, counting the numbers aloud with any of the cues, i.e. In any way that is more like it. The main thing is to distract the inner announcer from repeating aloud the text seen by the eyes.

You can get rid of articulation after 20-25 hours of training. How come, but do not seek records, the main thing is to get the desired result.

When the exercise is mastered and the expected result is obtained, i.e. Read without articulation, check your reading speed and record the result in a diary.

How to learn to read quickly is the second exercise.

Learning to read quickly through the extension of the angle of peripheral vision and attention.

Before the beginning of the second exercise and after its mastering, also enter data about your reading speed in the diary.

The essence of the exercise can be explained by the example of high-speed printing on a typewriter or PC keyboard. Especially where the keyboard is divided into two parts. Thus the user works each hand separately only on "his" part of the keyboard, without duplication.

So with reading. Each eye can and must bring "its" part of the printed images to the brain, separately. The eyes are looking parallel in the general direction, but each covers only its "own" part, without focusing at one central point in the common center.

Due to the parallel look, the lateral or peripheral vision widens. You can see a large area with text without making unnecessary movements with your eyes. Thus, increasing the speed of "removal" of information or reading speed.

This exercise will help you learn how to read aloud. Of course, one should in principle read aloud, every day.

Learning to work with extended peripheral vision, the reading speed aloud will automatically increase due to the fact that there will always be an "operative stock" of words in the brain that have not yet been spoken, but have already been seen by the eyes and transmitted to the brain.

Without the developed peripheral vision in the brain, often there is no reserve of "extra" words for their utterance, because Their eyes had not yet been seen and not passed on to him.

Everything is simple and complicated, at the same time. Just in understanding, but difficult to learn.

Nevertheless, a conscious desire and perseverance will necessarily give the expected result.
