Candidiasis is a widespread disease caused by fungi that belong to the genus Candida. It affects children and adults, regardless of gender. Primarily manifested in the skin and mucous membranes.

There are erased and distinctly expressed benign types: candidiasis of the mouth and throat, skin, genitals, rectal mucosa in the anus. There are also severe forms of the disease with an unfavorable prognosis. These are systemic lesions of various organs and tissues: lungs, esophagus, stomach, intestines, kidneys, etc., leading to sepsis.

Most often there are clinical forms with superficial lesions in the genital area. When it comes to candidiasis in men, usually mean a disease of the urogenital tract, which is called thrush. The thrush is not so harmless as many people think: an untreated disease is dangerous because it can go on into a chronic form, and then recovery is not guaranteed.

Candidiasis in men. Symptoms

Thrush in men can manifest themselves in several diseases: balanitis (balanoposthitis), urethritis, cystitis.

Balanitis is the most common form of urogenital candidiasis in men, which is characterized by inflammation of the glans penis. As a rule, it is combined with the defeat of the foreskin (balanoposthitis).

There are three clinical forms of the disease:

  • With the formation of ulcers, vesicles, red spots, film;

  • The appearance of rashes in the form of eczema and spotted-scaly foci of hyperemia;

  • Defeat of inguinal and femoral-muscular folds, as well as perianal region.

First of all, the process affects the head and foreskin, then the skin of the body of the penis, then - the groin area, and lastly - the scrotum.

There is a slight swelling of the head and infiltration of the skin of the foreskin. In the altered areas, a greyish-white plaque can be found, beneath which is an erosive red surface. On the head - small sores, on the foreskin - whitish coating and cracks along the edge. Inflammation is accompanied by pain, burning and itching. With the erased form, only the hyperemia of the coronal sulcus and the accumulation of masses in the form of a white powder under the foreskin are observed. In addition, the appearance of papules and small erosion.

Another sign of thrush in men is candidiasis urethritis, or inflammation of the urethra. Characterized by pain during sexual intercourse and urination, as well as white thick mucous discharge from the urethra.

Candidiasis in men can manifest cystitis - inflammation of the bladder. Thus patients complain of frequent desires to an emiction, pains and gravity in this area. Urine is usually turbid, sometimes with a trace of blood.

There are many drugs for internal and topical application. It can be tablets and capsules, as well as creams, ointments, chatterboxes, solutions. According to what scheme and how to treat candidiasis in men, a doctor should determine. Therapy depends on the form of the disease. Self-categorically is not recommended.

Than to treat a candidiasis at men in the acute form?

Balanoposthitis usually uses local remedies in the form of a cream with clotrimazole. Apply it to a thin layer on the head and foreskin during the week twice a day. In some cases, appoint "Flukonazol" ("Flukostat") inside - 150 mg once.

To enhance the effect of prescribing fortifying agents (vitamins) and immunomodulating medications, since candidiasis often occurs with immunodeficiency states and with a weakening of the defenses of the body.

Than to treat a candidiasis at men in the chronic form?

As a rule, acute disease very quickly gives in to treatment, and the symptoms disappear after a few days. For this reason, many stop treatment early and thereby make a big mistake. The fact is that the incomplete candidiasis soon returns and gradually becomes chronic, getting rid of which is difficult. The reason may be insufficient dosage and duration of the course, individual insensitivity to antifungal drugs. Usually chronic thrush is treated for several months, while prescribing drugs inside and local funds. If the candidiasis of a man is exacerbated four times a year, this scheme can be suggested: 100 mg of Fluconazole (Flucostat) orally once a week for several months. Repeat: it is extremely undesirable to engage in self-medication!

With thrush it is important to follow a special diet. It is recommended to completely exclude mold cheese, yeast sweet pastry, bread. It is necessary to eat live yogurt, hot pepper, grapefruit, garlic, cranberries.
