Hot prick - what is it and in what cases is it prescribed

Many patients, telling their relatives or relatives about the treatment that was once prescribed to them about various diseases, often remember a hot shot. The sensation of heat, slowly spreading throughout the body, sometimes turning into heat - this feeling is remembered for a long time. If a person has been given a hot shot at least once in his life, the memory of this remains forever.

What is a hot prick?

The hot prick is, first of all, the individual reaction of each patient to a fairly rapid intravenous jet injection of calcium chloride. Most often, such reactions occur when such medicines are used, which contain inorganic and organic salts, substances that participate in the regulation of neuromuscular transmission in the patient's body.

Usually the drug "Calcium chloride" is prescribed with a lack of calcium in the body, in the treatment of some allergic and skin diseases, in inflammatory processes. Method of administration of calcium chloride - intravenous or intramuscular injection.

How and where to make a hot shot

The doctor when prescribing the "Calcium Chloride" medication must necessarily ask whether the calcium preparation was prescribed earlier and how the patient tolerated their administration, whether there was a difference in the performance of intramuscular or intravenous injections. This is especially important when choosing a place - where to inject. When you introduce any such drug into the vein, you need to choose a vessel of sufficient diameter. Otherwise, when the injection is performed, thrombophlebitis may develop due to a chemical burn of the thin inner layer of the vein wall.

In the event that any such drug, especially a chloride prick, gets accidentally under the skin, the patient may experience necrosis of subcutaneous fat with the development of severe suppuration and the need for surgical treatment of this complication.

In some cases, the sensation of heat may occur with a fairly rapid introduction of calcium gluconate or magnesium sulfate intramuscularly - in this case it is important to prick the prescribed medication deep enough into the muscle mass. That is why such a hot prick can only be performed in large clusters of muscle tissue, most often in the gluteus muscle, and only in the outer upper quadrant of the buttocks. In the process of performing medical appointment, you need to make sure that the needle does not get into the blood vessel - just pull the syringe plunger a little.

In what cases is a hot shot prescribed

It is important to remember that in any case, a hot shot, regardless of which disease or pathological condition is prescribed for such treatment, should be administered only after consultation with a qualified and experienced physician. Calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulfates that enter the body with such an injection can affect the permeability of the vessel wall, heart contractions, blood clotting processes, the transmission of a neuromuscular impulse, and the reduction of smooth and striated muscle (skeletal) muscles. Therefore, prescribe such medicinal substances in any form and method of administration should be based on strict indications.

When you stop an allergy attack or treat long-lasting allergic reactions (dermatitis, dermatosis, bronchial asthma, inflammatory processes with an allergic component), calcium preparations can be administered intramuscularly or intravenously. The doctor should monitor the patient's condition at the time of injection and immediately afterwards.

The feeling of heat, heat after the introduction of hot prick quickly passes without causing painfulness and any unpleasant sensations when this medical procedure is properly performed.
