Hickey - who are they? Hickey syndrome - what is it?

Since recently, the lexicon of youth, and in particular, fans of anime, has been supplemented with a new term. Today the word "hikikomori" is included in fashion (it is often pronounced simply as "hikki"). What it is? The Japanese call so the teenagers retiring in their room, not willing to communicate with anyone, work or study. Such a person can safely not contact the outside world for several months. For an average person, this behavior may seem like a sign of a mental disorder. However, there are more such "crazies" every day, the bill already goes to millions.

First mention

In Japan, in 1998, a book was published that answers questions: "hikki - what is this?" And "how to save your child?". In fact, this is a manual that will help to cope with this phenomenon. Tamaki Saito, the author of the work, does not hesitate to say that in Japan this has become a real problem. In a prosperous and highly developed country, more than a million adolescents (which is almost one percent of the total population of the state) for unaccounted reasons eschew communication and do not want to contact the world around them.

Revelations of the author caused a real shock among the inhabitants of Japan. But if you dig a little deeper, you can see - the problem has arisen not in recent years.

The problem of the "big city"

If you go somewhere to the far north and talk about hikikomori, people will be very surprised. "Hickey?" What is this? "They will ask you. Of course, in places where there are few people, this phenomenon is unlikely to arise. Every guest is welcome there.

However, let's look at the situation from the other side. Huge modern cities assume constant daily communication with a large number of familiar and unfamiliar people. Most often, the situations in which they have to face are repeated. That is, a person knows in advance what he should say, what to ask, how to answer, what kind of facial expression he should have in a given situation. This is where the "melancholy green" comes.

Add to this the Mondays, which are so "in love" with our people (by the way, it is not surprising that Russian hickeys have recently appeared). After all for two days off the person simply wean from work, and it is necessary again to be added in system. On this day, anyone wants to pretend to be sick, tired. Do anything, just not to leave the house.

After all, each of us experienced this feeling: I do not want to go to work (study), I will not open the door to friends (relatives) who will soon come, and so on. That is to be hickey - is it quite normal? And each of us is a little hikikomori?

What are they doing?

The main question that arises in all the native young man who suddenly became a hikki: "What is he doing behind closed doors?" The bulk of the answer simply: "Fooling rolls!". After all, it's true: he does not want to study, he also works , sleeps until noon, spends all his spare time at the computer or in front of the TV. Even with friends does not want to communicate. Only a couple of phrases can say without opening the door. And the rest of the world does not interest him at all.

Some people joke about hickies: "What is this behavior?" They just remembered the instructions of their parents, because they were told in their childhood: "Keep your house quiet and do not open the door to anyone". Indeed, the door in the hikikomori room opens only at night. The teenager makes his way to the kitchen and eats quickly, until nobody noticed him.

How to become hickey

This can not happen to a person at a time. Most often this is the result of prolonged depression. For example, each day at a common table, relatives share impressions with each other, talk about new acquaintances, about their career successes, etc. All this is listened to by a guy or a girl who at the moment has difficulties in their personal or professional life. And every day their self-confidence decreases, they cease to believe in themselves.

This phenomenon originated in Japan. But in this country today it is very difficult to get a job, young people simply do not believe that they will be able to find any place in life. However, all parents dream that their son or daughter will take a good position in some prestigious company, and do not get tired of reminding their children about it.

By the way, this phenomenon is widespread not only among Japanese youth. In our country recently, many such recluses also appeared. The Russians no longer ask in surprise: "Hickey? What is it? "Because of instability, this phenomenon has become the norm in Russia. Young people are not able to designate vital signs, they have no goal, and no one wants to notice their problems. Questions accumulate mass, and there are no answers to them. That's why part of the Russian youth wants to just hide from the world and not answer anyone.

It is worth noting that while the behavior of the teenager did not differ from the generally accepted norms, nobody noticed him. However, as soon as he found a unique way out of the difficult situation and closed himself - the world around him became agitated. All around you began to argue that, not working, you will not receive a pension. Psychiatrists seriously say that children should be treated. And after all hickey (a photo above) at all psychs. It is only a little liberate such a teenager, and he suddenly turns out to be a sociable and successful person. So do not push it. Become a real friend to him, call him to walk, show something interesting, and he "falls back".

Hickey around the world

In Western countries, they are sure that such a phenomenon as "hikikomori" could appear only among "strange Japanese". But this is not true. Today the Network is full of references to hickey. Teenagers from all over the world share on the Internet their experiences. It is only worth reading the notes of Russian hikki - how much pain these young people spit out into the World Wide Web, because they are not heard at home. But they just need to understand, to understand their problems, to discuss their complexes, to believe in their talents.

In any country in the world there are several dozen teenagers who will happily drop out of school and close from the whole world. But is it possible in our country at least one parent will understand such an act? And not every child in Russia has a separate room to hide in. Therefore, for Russians, the word hikikomori remains only a fashionable expression.

Afterword

To be honest, there is something from this culture in almost every teenager. Some young people, for example, attend schools and universities only because it is so necessary. With what joy he would say: "We are recluses and hickies, do not touch us, we will just sleep, eat and watch TV." But you can not do this. Therefore, they sleep in class, are not interested in new information, most often just play on a mobile phone.

Such teenagers do not want to spend much time in their home. After all, there parents, and with them it is difficult to talk, they can not explain their desire to close from the whole world. Even at the computer they can not hide from them, they will still be interested in successes, wonder at the bad mood. So we have our own hickeys in Russia. Maybe it's just time for us to change something in our life?
