Hairstyles style: the country wanted to live beautifully

Today, style hairstyles of a new type will not surprise anyone by and large. You can color in green, cut only one half of the head, shave off your hair and make a tattoo on the top of the head. But several decades ago it was almost impossible or even unacceptable to look strange or unusual in our country.

For example, in the postwar years against foreign cultures in the Soviet Union was allowed "relief". Young women and men were allowed to imitate Western fashion, wear European clothing, listen to jazz. In addition, soldiers returning from abroad brought a lot of trophy items, so unlike the standard, fairly clumsy, although strong examples of the domestic industry.

After it became clear that the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition are unfriendly towards the USSR, and the cold war is beginning on the planet, clothes and style styling were banned. In 1947 a letter was published in the magazine Sovetskaya Zhenshchina with the appeal "to repel Western modes". Then the same letters were issued by virtually all major print media.

In the post-war society, people were required who could revive the ruined country, work on construction sites and on collective farms. And the costumes, dresses and hairstyles of style did not contribute to this in any way. The men at that time wore bright shirts with wide trousers, shoes from the skin of combined colors, later - jackets with increased shoulders, tight-fitting trousers. The girls were pulled into corsets and dressed in dresses with lush skirts in the style of Christian Dior.

Many representatives of this trend belonged to the elite, they used foreign cosmetics and perfumes. They considered themselves to be "cream of society", which should somehow stand out, while others "ran" into this bright illusion from the reality of the shattered reality. Stilig style hairstyles immediately distinguished them among the common homogeneous mass. The girl, in order to get such a status, it was enough just to lay curly hair around her head in the form of a crown ("corolla of the world"), use bright plastic hairpins, hoops and accessories, put on patent shoes.

What other famous features did the style have? Men's hairstyle in the style of "Kok" is known to this day as part of the image of Elvis Presley. To create it, the bangs rose upwards and was secured with bryoline. Often the image was supplemented with thin mustaches ("bastards"), and also almost always certain manners of behavior. Young people from this subculture almost always used jargon. For example, they called trousers "truzera", hat - "hatok", and clothes of Soviet production - "Sovshiv". Their way of life was supposed to take evening walks along the main street of the city ("do the heal") in order to demonstrate their outfits.

How often did hair styles change? The photos show that there were not so many options. For example, after the already mentioned "corolla of the world" in the 50's. To this direction in the classical version can be attributed to the styling of "babette", which appeared after the film "Babette goes to war." It was widely spread in the USSR among famous women. Suffice it to recall the images of Maya Kristalinskaya, Svetlana Svetlichnaya or Larisa Golubkina.
