Garibaldi Castle, Samara: address, photo

Sometimes it happens that the locality and people living there, trade and production come to life when tourism starts to develop in such a place. This can be affected by the railway line or a new highway, the opening of a museum or the construction of a palace. Garibaldi Castle (Samara) is just such an object. His appearance is already beginning to arouse the interest of lovers of antiquity and fairy tales.

History of Chryshchevka

Only after the construction of the city of Samara in the 17th century began a large-scale settlement of the right bank of the Volga. The first settlers in these parts were runaway peasants who were looking for a better life. By the end of the 17th century large monasteries - Novodevichy and Gorodishche - had already been built on the right bank of the Volga. At the beginning of the 18th century the entire Syzran region was so densely populated that the resettlement of people to the left bank of the Volga began.

Khryashchevka, like several other settlements, appeared on the land of the monastery and was originally inhabited by monks. In 1705, she was presented to Alexander Menshikov, but after his disgrace returned to the royal possessions.

Since 1851, the village of Khryaschyovka is part of the Stavropol district of the Samara province, which remains to this day. In modern Khryaschyovka there are more than 3 thousand people, and the main attraction of this place was Garibaldi Castle built here. In Samara and Togliatti, the local population knows him very well, but the rumor about the Gothic castle has gone far beyond the borders of his native land.

The value of the lock for the area

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of constructing a whole tourist complex, which will occupy an area of 6.5 hectares on the shore of the Zhigulevsky Sea, as residents of this region call the Kuibyshev reservoir. This will raise the tourism business to a completely new level.

The Garibaldi Castle (Samara) is the first constructed object, which already attracts travelers to these places. The influx of tourists to Khryashchevka will give new jobs and an influx of funds for the development of the region as a whole.

The idea of the appearance of a Gothic castle in these parts belongs to Oleg Kuzichkin, as well as the structure itself. Its erection began in 2006 according to the plans of the architects Valery Seglin and Yuri Guryanov. Their joint work with the designer and artist of the facade by Sergey Karengin and Alexei Cheboksarinov, as well as the sculptor Viktor Shuvalov, led to the appearance of a neo-Gothic castle in a small village of Khryashchevka.

Stylistics of the castle

Although, in its essence, Garibaldi Castle (Samara, address: Khryashchevka, River Lane) is a hotel with seven VIP-rooms, the style of this building was developed very carefully. The owner of the complex wished that the building looked ancient "for real".

The designers had to come up with a legend for their building. So, its basement and foundation were "laid" even in the 10th-12th century, and the 1st and 2nd floors were completed in the 13th-14th century. The third floor was, as it were, "erected" by another architect already in the style of the 15th-16th centuries, and the final reconstruction of the building, in which the same style was observed, was carried out in the 19th century. To do this, we used the best modern materials, "old" with the latest technology. For realism, even such trifles as bas-reliefs on socle stones, similar to those found in Denmark on excavations dating from the 10th century, were thought through.

The difference in the "stones" between old and later clutches also "inspires" viewers that the castle was built in different epochs, maintaining the basic Gothic style. The various components of the building - arches and bas-reliefs - seemed to have been "removed" from the ancient ruins and transferred to the construction of this area. Here you can find the motives of the ancient Russian architects and the "work" of the masters of the early Middle Ages.

The annex on the west side dates back to the 15th century, although for it stones from ruins were obviously used as old as the base of the castle itself. Garibaldi Castle (Samara), whose photo can hardly convey the very atmosphere of this place, nevertheless demonstrates the skill of modern architects, in no way inferior to their medieval "colleagues."

A lookout for the castle

The whole ensemble of the castle is divided into several zones. The main building is a hotel, in the wing there is a kitchen, a place for entertainment is in the "underground", and for events in the open air a playground in the form of a courtyard of a medieval castle paved with stone was built.

Garibaldi Castle (Samara) is completely built by hand, without the use of conventional construction equipment, and its yard is no exception. Each tile was laid in accordance with the colors and motifs of medieval castles.

By its size, the square is quite suitable for conducting folk festivals and theatrical performances with the expectation of up to 300 guests. When the construction is completed in 2018, the entertainment center will be able to host even more guests.

Dungeon

Initially, when building an underground entertainment complex, there were no plans to build a medieval building. Garibaldi Castle (Samara) "arose" as an idea as the foundation of the hotel was erected.

In the "dungeon" are two levels for entertainment. In the upper floor there is a swimming pool and a hall with a "sunken" antique ship. The floor of this room is made of glass, under which is a large aquarium. Fish in this unusual place swim among the wreckage of the ship over the ancient weapons and chests with "gold".

The pad of the castle became a roof for the dungeon, which was difficult enough to perform technically, but the masters successfully coped with it.

If you go down the stone stairs even lower in the dungeon, you can get into modern bowling and billiard hall. During the breaks between the game, guests will spend time at the bar. All premises are made in the spirit of medieval dungeons.

In 2014 the first visitors could already fully enjoy the beauty and unusualness of this place.

First events

The most interesting place for holding a different level of events was Samara - Khryashchevka, Garibaldi Castle. Constructed among old fir trees and oaks, overlooking the "sea", the unusual building for these places already attracts the attention of advertisers, fashion houses and travel agencies.

The first event of the castle in 2014 was a gift to the residents of Togliatti and Samara in honor of the 50th anniversary of the renaming of the city. On the excursion bus, the first tourists arrived to see the new attractions of the district. For the sake of this event, construction work was interrupted. Guests were able to inspect the exterior walls and towers of the castle.

As the work in the building progressed, more and more events began to take place in it. When the court yard was finished, she was rented for her photo shoots and fashion shows by the famous Togliatti boutique REKA. The fashion show of beautiful girls in modern fashionable clothes on the background of "ancient" walls made a real sensation. At this event came twice as many people than was declared on the list. So, the glory of an unusual place was ahead of the end of its construction.

Before the closure of the complex, wedding photosessions, a contest for the best photo of the castle, a ball and festive events of various collectives were held at this place for final work.

Construction and opening of the port

Of course, you can take a bus to Garibaldi Castle. How to get there from Samara by public transport, everyone knows - with transplants. In the beginning it will take 2 hours to go to Togliatti, and then change to the route towards Khryashchevka and get another hour.

But the whole entertainment complex was thought of so that guests would get to it by water. To this end, the construction plans included the construction of a port on the shore of the Kuibyshev Reservoir.

In order to port not only yachts and boats, but also large vessels, the bay was completely refitted. Now all yachtsmen and traveling by water along the Volga, can anchor in the waters of the Zhiguli Sea. They will be met by a cozy gazebo with a restaurant, from where a beautiful view of the Volga opens. The port was opened on June 11, 2014.

Excursion route

Despite the fact that the final construction of the castle will happen only in 2018, Russian travel agencies have already included it in their tours in the Samara region. Thanks to the Internet and photos of those who have already been there, information about the unusual Gothic castle spread throughout the country.

Designed to be visited by residents of the region, the entertainment complex, judging by the interest to it, can become as popular as the famous amusement parks in other countries (Disneyland in the USA, Euro Park in Germany and others). This is indicated by the sightseeing routes of the leading tour agencies of the country.

Completion of construction

All the finishing and construction work in the castle will be completed in 2018, but today you do not have to guess where the Garibaldi Castle is located. In Samara, everyone knows his whereabouts - from small to large. Now not only the old Europe, but the Samara region in Russia has its own medieval castles.
