Frigate "Admiral Grigorovich": photo, construction and launching

The resurgent naval power of Russia pleases all true patriots. After long years, during which the fleet fell into decay, at last it began rearmament, accompanied by the commissioning of new combat units that meet the requirements of the new century. Among them, the frigate project 11356 Admiral Grigorovich, launched on March 14, 2014.

What is a Russian frigate

In the Soviet classification of the Navy, there was no such class of ships as a frigate. Large anti-submarine ships (BCP) and watchdogs (SC) were built, which carried the main burden in ensuring the inviolability of the USSR's extensive water borders. Since 1968, the Navy began to receive military ships of Project 1135, which are being built at the Yantar plant. A series of eighteen ships, as usual, was named after its first unit, the "Stormy Petrel". Sentry service was also carried by the "Norei" (Project 11351), built in a larger number (39 pieces). Some of them are still in the ranks, but time and sea waves are merciless, the technique has the property to wear out and grow old morally. The experience gained by shipbuilders in the development of these types is taken into account. They will be replaced by the ships of the new project - 11356. The class "Admiral Grigorovich" corresponds to the concept of "frigate" adopted in many fleets of the world, both in displacement and in combat capabilities. Probably, this class will get accustomed to the Russian Navy.

In honor of whom the ship and series are named

The project "Admiral Grigorovich" in the next few years will continue with four more frigates already laid, bearing the names of the famous Russian admirals Essen, Makarov, Butakov and Istomin. These navymen are mainly known to people who are interested in the history of Russia and its armed forces. All of them became famous during the heroic defense of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War of 1905-1907. At the same time, our fellow citizens are least aware of the fact that the title ship of the series, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, was named after him. Perhaps, it happened because the biography of a well-deserved military-statesman did not fully correspond to the ideas of Soviet propagandists about patriotism.

From the midshipman to the admiral

IK Grigorovich was born in 1853. He came to the fleet as a midshipman, a graduate of a naval school. Knowledge from the received excellent, for this reason, his twenty-five-year officer, was sent to the North American States as part of a group of specialists to receive four ships of the "cruiser" class, ordered at the Philadelphia shipyards. Five years later, in 1883, Grigorovich first became commander of a very modest "Sorceress", not coming out of the harbor harbor. It seemed that the career was not progressing very well, but the bosses noticed the talented, diligent and not grumbling officer. Several translations followed, the service became heavier, but more interesting.

The fate of the Admiral

At the end of the nineteenth century, he served as naval attaché in London, and in 1904 received a new appointment as commander of the naval base in Port Arthur, in which he arrived on the bridge of the Tsesarevich, a battleship. During the Japanese siege IK Grigorovich showed himself on the best side, having managed to provide defense with everything necessary. Since 1911, the Vice-Admiral is the Minister of the Russian Imperial Fleet. His plans were developed after 1917. All the battleships of Soviet Russia, one-third of the destroyers and almost half of the cruisers were launched in the pre-war years according to Grigorovich's modernization programs. Admiral himself, however, did not accept the Bolshevik government, he lived after the revolution on the French Cote d'Azur, where, after six years of emigration, died in 1930.

The last rest of the ashes of the honored Russian state and naval figure was found in 2005. According to the will of the deceased, he was buried in the family crypt at St. Nikolsky Cemetery in St. Petersburg.

The appearance of the ship

The descent of Admiral Grigorovich to the water took place on March 14, with some delay caused by bad weather. The ceremony was attended by the great-grandson of the naval commander Artem Moskovchenko, as well as his granddaughter Olga Petrova, who broke a traditional bottle of champagne on the stem. This is how the ship "Admiral Grigorovich" met for the first time with sea waves. The photo captures this solemn moment. There is no doubt that the recognition of the naval commander's merits before his native country touched his descendants.

According to the relative, the grandfather was a strict boss, he would certainly check everything, from stern to nose, before taking the frigate. Grigorovich, most likely, would have been satisfied with the result of the inspection. The ship went to fame. Having inherited all the best qualities of previous projects, this multipurpose ship has acquired new properties, characteristic of the most modern models of naval weapons. Its underwater contours provide excellent navigational qualities, and the hull and superstructures are made using low-visibility technologies. The equipment corresponds to the latest technology and electronics. The frigate Admiral Grigorovich looks impressive, modern and dynamic.

Destination of the ship

Each warship is built for some purpose, to carry out very specific tasks. This type of weapons differs from many others in the very high cost of the unit itself, and its subsequent exploitation.

The frigate of project 11356 Admiral Grigorovich is intended for combat service in the Mediterranean basin, and the city of Russian glory, Sevastopol, was planned from the very beginning for its basing. The Black Sea fleet needs modern ships, the increased activity of NATO countries in the region dictates the need for retaliatory measures. However, the autonomous range (about five thousand nautical miles) also allows for a way out of the outlined patrol zone, for example, to fight against pirates, as well as in other extraordinary cases. The tasks that the frigate Admiral Grigorovich can solve are very diverse. He is able to successfully withstand torpedo, air and missile attacks, is capable of repelling hostile actions. Armaments on board are sufficient to hit any underwater or surface target, including aircraft-carrying large-tonnage ships.

Armaments complex

The main weapon of the ship is the Caliber-NK launcher for the Onyx cruise missile (3M-54TE). There are eight of them, these are very serious systems that are able to hit any object on the sea and on land. In the world they have no analogues.

To protect against possible air attacks, the ship Admiral Grigorovich is equipped with two air defense systems, called Shtil-1 (in the arsenal of 36 guided missiles) and Palash. The first of these is a multi-channel missile, which means that it is possible to drive and hit several targets simultaneously. The second is a highly effective missile and artillery complex, as are the two systems "Dirk", also responsible for the safety of airspace. Two A-190 units constructively contain the fastest guns in the world with a caliber of 100 mm. Two TAs each hold three 533-mm torpedoes. The RBU-6000 jet bomb, which has been tested for a long time, attains a powerful defense. And, of course, frigate 11356 Admiral Grigorovich, like any modern patrol ship, did not do without its own wing as a Ka-31 helicopter (Ka-27 submarine can be used).

Low visibility

Nowadays, under camouflage, they understand not only the coloring in camouflage colors, which provide maximum secrecy against the background of sea water and sky. This is also necessary, visual detection remains one of the most important methods of reconnaissance, but it is more important to remain invisible to the radars of the probable enemy. The radar principle remains the same as at the dawn of its invention. The reflected high-frequency electron beam displays on the screen the location of all objects towering above sea level. To reduce visibility, you can act in two ways: redirect the flow of particles to the other side or absorb radiation. In the complex, these measures were called "Stealth technology." The frigate of project 11356 Admiral Grigorovich and, of course, all subsequent ships of this series, have little visibility for the locators of the probable enemy. This is achieved by a special shape of the hull, with outlines consisting of inclined planes, special absorbing coatings and electronic equipment that make it difficult to detect a ship by radar. Most of the weapons and equipment are hidden behind the shielding surfaces. Of course, it is impossible to make a ship completely invisible for radars, but finding a frigate "Grigorovich" in the sea will be quite difficult.

Modules

According to the traditional technology, the ship's hull is laid on the slipway, then it is built upwards from the bottom up. So built ships from ancient times. But in recent decades, technology has become somewhat different. It takes into account the need for rapid modernization and installation of new equipment, sometimes large. The hull is built in parts, so that if there is a need for undocking, then this would not cause technological problems. The construction of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich was carried out in a modular way, the most progressive for today. The ship has a reserve of modernization potential, which allows replacing any units, from power units to electrical equipment.

Indian frigate

State enterprise "Yantar" factory exists since the victorious 1945. In German Koenigsberg there was shipyard "Shihau", which became the basis of shipbuilding after the war, when this Baltic city became Soviet. During the existence of the plant, more than one and a half hundred ships, mostly combat ships, were launched here.

Since 2007, at the request of the Indian government, a special order has been executed at the Baltic plant: ships for the navy of a friendly country are being built. The project is the same, 11356, on which the frigate Admiral Grigorovich was created. The difference, however, is significant. The common element of the two "brothers" is the corps, and equipment and weapons are different. The Indian frigates are armed with the Brahmos missile systems, with vertical launchers.

The nautical qualities of Russian ships were so appealing to buyers that they expressed a desire to build them independently, according to the purchased technical documentation. They are provided with comprehensive assistance within the framework of the military cooperation program. The names of the first four frigates of the Indian series are Talvar, Tarkash, Trikand and Teg.

EW Complex

The electronic warfare against the communications and control facilities of the enemy has become at present the most important task, the successful solution of which practically guarantees victory over any enemy. Frigate 11356 "Admiral Grigorovich" is armed with four KREB PC-10 "Bold". These ten-barrel installations resemble jet bombs, but they have a different task. Instead of directly hitting enemy ships, they release shells capable of disabling the enemy's electronic means of combat. The created interference will deprive the enemy fleet of the possibility of information exchange, blind the radars, and disable the air defense systems.

Shooting control systems

Long gone are the times when they shot "by eye". Even the perfect optical sights no longer satisfy the requirements of naval sailors due to the transience of the situation in the naval arena of military operations. It is up to the commander to take decisions about the opening of the fire, and the crew trusts the automation to calculate the parameters of the shot. The ship "Admiral Grigorovich" has on board the most powerful computer systems, which serve to quickly point weapons at the target. Information comes from the radar "Puma", missile launches the control system "Vympel" 123-02, and for the torpedoes answer PUTS "Purga-11356".

Dimensions and quantities

The dimensions of the ships are judged by the displacement. "Admiral Grigorovich" is a patrol ship, and therefore it should not be huge, like an aircraft carrier. Its sediment is small, up to 7.5 meters, which fully corresponds to the characteristics of the Black Sea, which in many places is shallow. The displacement is approximately four thousand tons, which also does not speak of colossal dimensions. For example, at the cruiser Peter the Great it reaches 25 thousand tons.

Frigate "Admiral Grigorovich": photos and proportions

Frigates - large ships, but not the biggest. This is the guarantee of their maneuverability, speed and secrecy. However, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich can not be called small. The photos, presented by the press service of the Navy, eloquently indicate a rather long length (125 meters). The hull is stretched, the ship is "compressed" along the sides, which indicates its fluidity. The power plant, consisting of two gas turbines, accelerates the ship to 30 knots, and in the afterburner mode - even faster.

The crew consists of 18 officers, 142 sailors and twenty Marines, only 180 people. The management of such a complex ship as the frigate Admiral Grigorovich requires a high level of training, coherence and cohesion. Only true professionals who love the sea and, of course, the Motherland can serve in the team.
