Flower "Broken Heart" - growing at home

Recently, there has been a growing popularity of the once forgotten and out-of-date plant called the dicenter, also called the "Broken Heart" flower. Such a name he got without a reason: a pink bud in the shape of a heart as if broken right in the middle, and from this "wound" a "tear" follows. The bushes do not represent anything special, and they appear on the flower bed mainly as a gift from friends. The unpretentiousness of the plant usually does not cause admiration for those who accepted the gift, but this mood changes dramatically next spring when gorgeous flowers appear on ordinary-looking bushes.

Why "Broken Heart"?

Why is the dicentre so called - the flower "Broken Heart"? In France, it is called "the flower of Jeannette," and this title is associated with a tradition according to which once upon a time a young girl, having gone after berries to the forest, lost her way. The sun was already setting over the horizon, and she began to look for a path to return home, but her attempts were in vain. The girl was very scratched about the thorny bushes and tried to call for help, but in response she heard only the howling wolves. Suddenly she saw a rider approaching her on a white horse. He picked her up and rode into the village. Once on the doorstep of the house, Jeannette looked after the retiring young man and felt that they would meet again. But then she could not imagine that the next meeting would be sad. A year later the girl woke up from the loud sounds of music that came from the passing wedding cortege. And what was her shock, when in the groom she recognized the beautiful young man who had once saved her! From this, the heart of the poor Jeannette exploded, and a beautiful flower resembling a broken heart grew on this place.

Care and planting

In Germany, the flowers "broken heart" are called "flowers of the heart", but their scientific name is the dicenter. It is connected with two spike-shaped protrusions of petals. Because of the unusual nature of the flower, it often gives the impression that he is very moody in the care, but this is absolutely not the case. Flower "Broken Heart" unpretentious to the ground, but still prefers light, fertile and slightly acidic soils. Does not like a lot of water - in such cases, the roots of the plant begin to rot. When leaving, all that is needed for a flower is reduced to the usual actions - watering, weeding, fertilizing with mineral substances and loosening. They multiply it by dividing bushes in the autumn period. The Diocenter loves sunny places, blossoms later in the shade and has a paler color, but the flowering period is more prolonged. On average, it is 35-40 days, after which the bush dies and grows again in the spring. In height, the flower "Broken Heart" can reach from 15 to 100 centimeters. This parameter depends on the plant variety, which is about twenty.

Cultivation

The flower "Broken Heart", whose photos are fascinating, has long deserved love, and it's not at all surprising. Landed bushes in flower gardens, flower beds, curbs and mixborders. Low-growing varieties look great in planting with other flowers, and high can be planted and one at a time. One of the advantageous accommodation options is the Alpine hill, the second is a landing with a fern, a juniper, a thuja. You can also complement the magnificence of the "hearts" with narcissuses, tulips, white phlox and delphinium. Dietzentra can be grown at home in a pot, which many growers do.
