Evgenia Vladimirovna Pasternak - an intellectual and an artist

Boris Pasternak met Zhenya Lurie when they were not too young. Nevertheless, both were not ready for family life. Eugene was 24 years old, and Boris - 32. She signed in 1922, and nothing of their marriage really happened. A son was born, who later grew up, occasionally talking with his father and not understanding why mom and dad, the most native people, do not live together.

Childhood and youth Zhenya Lurie

She was born in Mogilev in 1898. My father, the owner of a stationery store, had a big family. In addition to Zhenya, two more daughters and a son were growing up. They all studied at a private gymnasium in Mogilev, and after graduating in 1917, Zhenya left for Moscow. One was not released. Time was dangerous. Together with her went his cousin Sophia. There Zhenya, who graduated from the gymnasium with a gold medal, continued her studies at the Higher Women's Courses. This all indicates that the girl was keeping pace with the century: she was relaxed and emancipated. But in the hungry and cold Moscow she contracted tuberculosis and in 1918 she went home. Caring parents sent her to the Crimea: a mixture of mountain and sea air was supposed to put their daughter on their feet. A year later they leave the whole family from Mogilev to Petrograd.

In the ancient capital

The girl was looking for herself. She went to Moscow and began to study painting. There, in 1921, she met the poet and hastily after a few months, in 1922, married the charming Boris Pasternak. Evgenia Vladimirovna Pasternak imagined a family life as complete freedom. She did not try to get into the most necessary economic pursuits. Their all took on the husband. And Eugene Vladimirovna Pasternak, being pregnant and expecting a child, dreamed of how she would become an artist. Such household matters as cooking, cleaning in the room (they lived on the Volkhonka, in a compact apartment), fell on the shoulders of the poet. He needed freedom for creativity, and Evgenia Vladimirovna Pasternak about it I did not even think about putting myself in the forefront. There was no money, and Boris undertook any kind of work, realizing that this was tearing him away from poetry, from the purpose and meaning of his life.

Family life did not develop not only because of illness, but also because of the exorbitant ambitions of a young wife. She was an artist, significant, as she perceived herself. And husband? He just has to help her in everything. Separation

Germany

In 1926 she went to Germany for treatment, taking her young son with her. A young and beautiful woman was courted by a German banker and offered his hand and heart. But Evgenia Vladimirovna refused and returned to the reincarnated. For little Zhenya, it was happiness. He remembered only the return, when they met their beloved daddy. Boris did not wait for them in Moscow, but he took a train to them in Mozhaisk. They stood and looked out the windows. The golden domes of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior passed by. Once again Germany in 1930

It was, according to his son's memories, a sad journey. Mom got sick and went to a sanatorium. And when they returned, Dad met them at the Belorussky railway station. During this time, the temple was blown up. In their room glasses exploded from the explosion, and the husband, who firmly decided to leave the family, took them to his wife's brother, Semyon Vladimirovich Lurie. And then Boris Pasternak (what efforts it cost him, only he knows himself) received an apartment for his son and ex-wife on Tverskoi Boulevard. The family broke up. It was a painful process. Evgenia begged her husband to return, but he was already carried away by Zinaida Nikolaevna Neuhaus. There was no question of any return. Sonny next year went to the 2 nd grade.

What happened then

Together, Boris and Eugene Pasternak lived for seven years. During this time the child grew up. His mother did not teach him to draw, although she herself was engaged in RR Falk. But she did not draw regularly. This artist-ascetic from it did not work. During the war years, they lived with their son in Tashkent. Then they returned to Moscow. The son grew up and became a literary critic. Pasternak Yevgenia Vladimirovna herself, without leaving a trace in art, died at 66 years old.
