Emirates SkyCargo has become the largest carrier of the Middle East

A company from the United Arab Emirates Emirates SkyCargo, one of the largest and fastest growing cargo air carriers in the world, has left behind the year of 2013, full of success and outstanding achievements.

In 2013, SkyCargo expanded its route network by opening four new cargo transportation lines: Hanoi (Vietnam, launched on February 6), Chicago (USA, launched on March 3), Kano (Nigeria, launched on October 4) and Quito (Ecuador, launched 3 December). SkyCargo also began transportation to Warsaw, Algeria, Stockholm, Clark, Conakry, Sialkot and Kabul, providing cargo transportation in luggage compartments on these seven new passenger routes. In support of the development of the United Arab Emirates in 2013, SkyCargo increased the number of aircraft sweeps by purchasing 3 new Boening 777 Freighter. Currently, the company has 12 cargoes - 10 B777 F and two 747 - 400 ERF aircraft, which support 43 lines around the world. In March 2013, SkyCargo began to cooperate with Cool Chain Premium Service, so in 2013 the company transported more than 4000 tons of temperature sensitive products, including pharmaceuticals.

In March, SkyCargo began cooperation with Qantas. This led to the growth of the company and the expansion of transportation services in a total of more than 200 airports on six continents.

In April 2013, SkyCargo became the first airline to introduce electronic air waybills (electronic AWB) on the recently ratified industry standards for multilateral electronic AWB. Thus, SsyCargo once again strengthened its position as the industry leader in the implementation of the latest developments. During the year the company concluded more than 190 global and local bilateral and multilateral agreements using electronic AWBs, thereby supporting the transition from paper air waybills to their electronic counterparts.

In May 2013, SkyCargo announced its annual results. The company's revenue crossed 10 billion dirhams for the first time, reaching 10.3 billion dirhams (2.8 billion US dollars), an increase of 8 percent over the previous fiscal year. The tonnage of transported products increased by 16%, reaching an impressive level of 2.1 billion tons, despite the trend towards a decrease in air freight services. SkyCargo transported 2.1 million tons of cargo in its network in the 2012-13 fiscal year and ranks first among the best airlines, according to the latest statistics of the Worldwide Transport Airline.

In 2013 SkyCargo won a number of prestigious industry awards, including "Cargo Airline of the Year 2013" (Air Cargo Week), "Cargo Airline of the Year 2013", "Best Middle East Cargo Airline" (two Air Cargo News awards , "Best Air Cargo Carrier Middle East" (AFSCA), "Cargo Operator of the Year" (SCATA) and "Air Cargo Excellence Award" (Air Cargo World).

In 2014, all SkyCargo operations will be transferred to Dubai International Airport, which will become the new home of freight traffic. Completion of the installation of equipment for handling cargo and changing the interior design is scheduled for April 2014, complete completion of work - in mid-September. After that, the terminal will be designed to receive 700,000 tons of cargo.

The positions of European and Asian companies in this area are relatively lower. Only American FedEx, UPS Airlines, French Air France, Korean Korean Air and Japanese Japan Air can compete. It may seem that the gap from competitors here is caused by the size of the country's territory. However, the Arab Emirates are not a "big" country. Rather, it is affected by the situation in the Middle East, the economic underdevelopment of this region, constant armed conflicts, which reduces the number of competitors in this region to nothing. It is not surprising that with good policy and good economic strategy, you can get to the leaders here.

Of Russian companies so far few people can boast of such achievements. The only exception is VneshtorgService, which has expanded its network of influence to the countries of Europe, but this is a topic for a separate discussion.
