Elena Blavatsky: The Secret Doctrine. Was there a secret?

At the end of the twentieth century, our country experienced a number of crises, each of which can be safely called systemic. Economic shocks, the disintegration of a single state, the re-evaluation of historical facts, a change in attitudes toward religious life is just an incomplete list of events, like an avalanche of former Soviet people who fell to their heads, who were accustomed to living modestly but steadily.

Former atheists were at a crossroads. They could keep their disbelief or choose between many denominations. The fashionable word "esotericism" attracted its foreign sound, it felt something modern, progressive and opposite to the outdated, in the opinion of many bewildered citizens, moral and ethical norms - both communist and religious.

On the bookshelves appeared the works of Helena Roerich, Blavatsky also coexisted with her. "Secret Doctrine" for a short time became a bestseller. Still, everything accessible only to the enlightened is so attractive, but here is the book of all books, the synthesis of all religions and science.

However, most of those who decided to lay out a considerable sum for a heavy three-volume book in difficult times, took possession of a complex feeling consisting of dumbfounded disappointment and boredom. It was hard writing Elena Blavatsky. "The Secret Doctrine" is set out in some incomprehensible wide range of readers' manner. Scientists are the same people and do miss. A single and absolute reality is still somehow habitual, in it we all have got used to live already for many decades. But here "rootless root" is already too much. Reincarnations, the presence of a super-soul and other attributes of Buddhism can not be called a personal invention of the author.

I thought it was not Blavatsky. "Secret Doctrine", however, is full of these concepts. To science, labor has no relation at all, it is based on the fact that there are certain sources of knowledge to which an extraordinary writer has joined, while in others the path has been ordered.

Mysterious is the Fleur, who during her lifetime was surrounded by Blavatsky. The secret doctrine of the countless worlds that are disappearing, and after the newly arising, and other cyclicalities of the universe claimed to be another universal law that describes everything and everything. The trouble was the complete inapplicability of this complex concept to the solution of any practical issues. The writer herself tried to predict with spiritualism, but, obviously, unsuccessfully. From the medium demand short-term forecasts, which are easy to verify. Then she switched to periods that were significantly in time. Today, a hundred and twenty-five years after the publication of the three-volume book, it can be assumed that its prophecies did not come true, or they were made in an extremely vague form, and some historical facts allow " After some adjustment.

So why did not Blavatsky be forgotten? "Secret Doctrine", the brief content of which is almost impossible to state, and to read the entire three-volume book is rarely enough patience, successfully took place on the shelves of bookcases of people claiming to belong to the intellectual elite of society. Performs this book mainly decorative function. But sometimes quotes from it still use. They sometimes try to "improve" Orthodoxy, making it "more tolerant" and "more convenient."

Since there are not enough reasonable and justified arguments for reformatory actions, the same "esoteric method" used by Blavatsky is used. "Secret Doctrine" remains a mystery, at least externally. Another thing is that sometimes the main secret is just his absence.
