Do you believe that ghosts exist? Are there any proofs?

If you believe in ghosts, you are not alone. People all over the world believe that the soul of a person after death goes to another world, but sometimes can return to earth. In fact, of all paranormal phenomena, people often believe in ghosts.

Belief in the Otherworld

The idea that the dead remain with us in the form of spirits is very ancient, and appears in innumerable stories, from biblical parables to Shakespeare's Macbeth. This belief even gave birth to a special folklore genre: ghost stories. Stories about ghosts are part of beliefs about paranormal phenomena, including death experiences, life after death, and communication with spirits. It's not difficult to understand why this idea has spread so much among people - many do not want to believe that the deceased members of the family have left them forever, and therefore prefer to think that they can return to them from time to time.

Communication with spirits

At all times people have tried to communicate with spirits. In Victorian England, for example, the ladies were fashionable to conduct similar sessions after tea with friends. Moreover, in many prestigious universities, including Cambridge and Oxford, special clubs were founded dedicated to the search for evidence of the existence of ghosts. In 1882, even the most prominent organization was created, called the Society for Psychical Research. Its president and first researcher was Eleanor Sidgwick. She can be called the first woman to hunt for ghosts. In the late 1800s in America, many mediums claimed that they could talk to the dead, but later were exposed as scammers thanks to skeptical researchers such as Harry Houdini.

Hunting for ghosts

However, the widespread worldwide hunt for ghosts has become relatively recent. This is largely due to the release of the television series Ghost Hunters, which led to the emergence of many imitators. Frankly, it's not difficult to understand why this series has become so popular: he convinced millions of people that each of them can see a ghost. This means that you do not need to be a scientist or even have any training in science and research. All you need is some free time, a dark place and, possibly, several gadgets from the electronics store. If you look for long enough, any inexplicable light or noise can be perceived as evidence of the existence of ghosts.

Difficulties in learning ghosts

Why is it so difficult to explore ghosts scientifically? First of all, because they are credited with many different abilities. Self-opening doors, lost keys, unexpected cold - all this is called the handiwork of ghosts, not to mention their ability to appear out of nowhere in the form of a blurred figure. In addition, many people, faced with some unexplained phenomena, do not know how to explain this. This happens especially often if these phenomena do not fit into our understanding of how a ghost should behave.

Personal experience is one thing, but scientific evidence is quite another matter. Another difficulty in the study of ghosts lies in the fact that so far there is no one universal definition of this phenomenon. Some believe that ghosts are the spirits of the deceased, who for some reason "lost" on the way to another world, and therefore remain wandering the earth. Others argue that ghosts are telepathic entities projected into the world by our mind. Still others create their own special categories for different types of ghosts, for example, poltergeists, residual ghosts, clever spirits and people's shadows. Of course, trying to categorize ghosts is the same as creating different races of fairies or dragons: each person can name as many types of ghosts as he wants.

Contradictions

In addition, ideas about ghosts have many contradictions. For example, they are material or not. Can they move through solid objects without destroying them? Or are they able to open and close the door and throw objects around the room? According to the logic and laws of physics, one contradicts the other.

If ghosts are human souls, then why do they appear dressed in presumably soulless objects, such as hats, walking sticks and dresses? Not to mention numerous evidences of ghosts of trains, wagons and ships.

If the ghosts are the spirits of those whose deaths have remained unutilized, then why do so many unsolved murders still exist, as it is commonly believed that these spirits can communicate with living people, which means they have long had to send the police along the trail of the murderer. There are many such questions without answers, and they all make us doubt the existence of ghosts.

Methods for discovering perfume

Ghostbusters use a variety of creative (and rather questionable) methods to detect the presence of spirits. Almost all of them apply for the scientific substantiation of their "work", and therefore use high-tech scientific equipment, for example, Geiger counters, electromagnetic field detectors, ion detectors, infrared cameras and sensitive microphones. Nevertheless, all this equipment, in fact, did not help anyone to detect ghosts. For many centuries people believed that the flame of a candle turns blue in the presence of spirits. Today, few people accept this idea. Thus, it is likely that in a few decades or centuries our methods of detecting ghosts will seem ridiculous and ridiculous to descendants.

Why do many continue to believe

Most people who believe in ghosts do so because of the influence of some personal experience. For example, they grew up in a house where the existence of friendly spirits was considered something self-evident. The second example is that they experienced some kind of stressful experience in the so-called "haunted houses". Nevertheless, many people believe that the proof of the existence of ghosts can be found in modern physics, namely in the first law of thermodynamics, which was formulated by Albert Einstein. If energy is not created and not destroyed, but only changes its form, then what happens to the energy of our body when we die? Can it somehow manifest itself in the form of a ghost?

It seems that this is a reasonable assumption, but only if you do not understand the basics of physics. The answer is very simple, and it is not mysterious at all. After a person dies, energy from his body goes where energy of all organisms is directed after death: into the environment. It is emitted in the form of heat, and the body is processed by animals that eat it (that is, wild animals if the person remains unburied, or, more often, worms and bacteria if the body has been buried), and plants that absorb these residues. Thus, there is no bodily "energy" that remains after the death of a person and which can be detected using devices popular with ghost hunters.

Believe it or not?

If ghosts are real and are some kind of still unknown energy or essence, their existence will (like all other scientific discoveries) be confirmed and verified by scientists using controlled experiments. In the end, despite the mountains of ambiguous photos, audio and video, modern evidence of the existence of ghosts is no better than a year, ten or even a hundred years ago. There are two good explanations for this.

The first - there are no ghosts, and the evidence of their appearance can be explained by psychology, mistakes and mystifications. The second option - they still exist, but ghost hunters are not competent enough to bring more science into their search.

It's up to you to decide which of these explanations you want to believe.
