Do cockroaches bite at home?

Cockroaches are built in apartments easily, but it's much harder to get them out. Everyone knows that they are carriers of the infection and give off an unpleasant smell, destructive for allergy sufferers. But do bug cockroaches - domestic insects, delivering so much trouble?

Types of home parasites

Among cockroaches there are species that, due to their huge size, can live in houses only as pets. First and foremost, these are Madagascar, among which an individual of 900 mm is identified. They make sounds that sound like hiss, and they do not spread in Europe. Among the domesticated insects distinguish three varieties:

  • Blatta orientalis, or cockroach is black. It is easy to determine, since the chitin sheath has a black color, which casts a metallic sheen. Black cockroaches are supplied with wings, but, fortunately, they do not know how to fly. Throughout the body there are hairs and antennae, responsible for sight and smell. Omnivorous insects can reach 50 mm and quietly live in freedom under conditions of warm climate: the Crimea, the Balkan Peninsula.
  • Most of all people are interested in whether the cockroaches bite red, because this species is the most widespread in Russia. Blattella germanica, or red cockroach, everywhere follows a person in search of water, heat and food. Red cockroaches have an oblong shape and are capable of flying to a light source or during breeding.
  • Periplaneta americana , or American cockroach, has a darker brown color of chitinous shell and a long body that allows them to live in the ventilation passages.

You can meet in the apartments and white cockroaches, but they are not an independent species. For their lives, insects are molted up to 10 times and are discarded with a chitinous shell. Only a few hours later they again acquire their natural color.

Do bug cockroaches and why?

Until now, there are people who consider biting cockroaches a myth. American scientists Roth and Willis (60s) first proved that insects can bite and gnaw the skin of sleeping people, especially children. They described twenty cases of eating small particles of the skin on the eyelids, fingers, neck and even elbows. Learn about bites became possible after the infection was introduced into the wound.

The mouthpiece of insects is so developed that they are able to eat anything: the remains of any food, cloth, paper, soap and even the wires of electrical appliances. The answer to the question of whether the cockroaches are biting lies in the plane of understanding, why they do it:

  • Lack of food. The lack of food prompts the colony of cockroaches to rush to find new sources of food. A sleeping person on the road, especially a child, can become such a source.
  • Lack of water. It is her weakness that can lead an insect to death. In this case, the person's skin interests him as a source of moisture: tear glands, saliva in the corners of the mouth.
  • Competition within the colony, capable of encouraging active individuals to search for food. This occurs when a large infection with cockroaches.

Victims of bites

The regime of the day of insects is such that for hunting in search of food they go at night when a person sleeps. Due to the fact that their bite is almost painless, many have the impression of the artificiality of the discussion of the topic "Do cockroaches bite home." Photo bites confirms the man's vulnerability to parasites. Children often become victims of insects. There are certain reasons for this:

  • Thinner skin, which is easy to bite.
  • A pleasant smell without the scent of fragrance perfume or tobacco.
  • Children's skin (especially in infants) is an additional source of moisture.

Bite Tracks

Often the affected area itches, and a burning sensation occurs. But visually it looks the same as after a bite of a mosquito or other insect. The wound is covered with a crust, the skin around swells and turns red. Often bitten places are located nearby, which indicates a real attack of cockroaches. Jaws of an insect are not capable of causing acute pain, but they can completely discomfort and damage the skin, making them a source of infection. Victims no longer wonder whether cockroaches are biting. Photos of the sad consequences of night hunting can be seen in the article.

Consequences, first aid

What should I fear after a bite even in the absence of severe pain? There are only two real threats, but you need to know about them:

  • In the body of an insect, there is tropomyosin, which can cause the strongest allergic reactions. Fibrous protein can provoke serious allergies in allergies.
  • The body of the cockroach, its intestines and legs are carriers of pathogenic microorganisms and bacteria, so when human tissues are damaged, their infection easily occurs.

When people in practice come across an answer to the question of whether cockroaches bite, it is necessary to treat the wound with an antiseptic: hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine bigluconate solution or alcohol. If an allergic reaction (inflammation, severe burning or scabies) occurs, the affected area should be smeared with antihistamine ointment. With a large bite zone or a severe allergic reaction, it is necessary to consult a doctor for prescribing drug therapy.

Prevention of bites

Everyone should understand well how cockroaches get into the dwelling to avoid further problems. These tenacious insects, whose harmful dose of radiation exceeds the allowable 15 times for humans, can settle in bags, bags and things. They easily find themselves in boxes, traveling with parcels to post offices. Run out from neighbors on the ventilation shafts and cracks in the walls or floor. They come in whole colonies when they begin to struggle in a violent place with them.

The question of whether the cockroaches bite occurs only when the house is not disinsected and sanitation is not respected. To poison insects it is necessary simultaneously on all living space of an apartment building in order to avoid relapses. It should be remembered that cockroaches do not tolerate the smell of ammonia, and from boric acid they begin dehydration of the body, leading to death. The apartment should not have sources of constant moisture in the night, as well as access to food leftovers and spoiled food. Fortunately, the bites of these insects - an event rare, and when taking preventive measures it can be avoided altogether.
