Death of Mayakovsky: tragic finale of the poet

The death of Mayakovsky in the thirty-seventh year of his life caused many questions among his contemporaries. Why did the genius, the beloved of the people and Soviet power, "the singer of the revolution", voluntarily quit?

That there was a suicide, there is no doubt. The results of the examination, carried out by criminologists 60 years after the death of the poet, confirmed that Mayakovsky himself shot himself. A handwriting examination established the authenticity of the death letter written two days earlier. The mere fact that the note was drawn up in advance, speaks in favor of the deliberate nature of this deed.

When Esenin passed away three years earlier, Mayakovsky writes: "It's not hard to die in this life.
Making life is much more difficult. " With these lines he puts a bitter assessment of escape from reality with the help of suicide. On his own death, he writes: "... this is not the way ... but I have no way out."

We will never know the exact answer to the question that the poet was so severely damaged. But Mayakovsky's voluntary death can be partly explained by events preceding his death. Partly the choice of the poet reveals his work. Famous lines from the poem "Man", written in 1917: "And the heart rushes to the shot, and the throat raves with a razor ...", speak for themselves.

Generally, the poetry of Mayakovsky is a mirror of his nervous contradictory nature. His poems are full of either teenage enthusiasm and enthusiasm, or bile and bitterness of disappointment. So Vladimir Mayakovsky described and contemporaries. The same Veronica Polonskaya, the main witness of the suicide of the poet, writes in his memoirs: "In general, he always had extremes. I do not remember Mayakovsky ... calm ... ".

The reasons for drawing the last line from the poet were many. Married Lilya Brik, the main love and muse of Mayakovsky, all his life approached and moved away from him, but never belonged to him completely. Long before the tragedy, the poet twice flirted with his fate, and the reason for this was a comprehensive passion for this woman. But then Mayakovsky, whose death still worries the minds, remained alive - the weapon misfired.

Serious health problems started due to fatigue and heavy flu, the deafening failure of the play "Bath" in March 1930, the parting with Tatyana Yakovleva, which the poet asked to become his wife ... All these life collisions, indeed, the blow after the blow seemed to prepare Mayakovsky's death . Standing on her knees in front of Veronika Polonskaya, persuading her to stay with him, the poet clung to the relationship with her as a saving straw. But the actress was not ready for such a decisive step as divorce from her husband ... When the door closed behind her, the revolver with a single bullet in the cage set the point in the life of one of the greatest poets.

The poet in his last note asked not to "gossip" about his deed, but for more than eighty years, Mayakovsky's death is one of the most discussed events in the life of Russia at the beginning of the twentieth century ...
