Cube Rubik - the record for the assembly

Everyone knows such a puzzle as the Rubik Cube. The record for the assembly sought to establish many. But to whom did it succeed? This is what will be discussed. But first things first.

The sculptor Erno Rubik invented the famous puzzle in 1974, all this time it gained popularity and became the best-selling toy in the world. In different parts of the world Erno's invention is called differently, in most countries it is called the "Rubik's Cube", although the author originally called it the "Magic Cube". This name is firmly entrenched in a toy in China, Germany and Portugal.

Varieties of the Rubik's Cube

There are many varieties of Rubik's cube. Some of them differ in the number of cells in the face: in a standard puzzle each of the six faces consists of 9 cells, but also 2x2x2 cubes and to a lesser extent other species, for example 7x7x7. The case of a cube with dimensions of 17x17x17 is known. Obviously, the more elements form one face, the more difficult it is to assemble such a cube.

Some kinds of puzzles have a completely different shape, for example an octahedron, a dodecahedron and so on. It is worth noting that the so-called Moldovan pyramid, or the pyramid of Meffert, was invented earlier than the Rubik's cube.

World record for the assembly of the "Magic Cube"

Everyone knows the puzzle of the Rubik's Cube. The record for the assembly tried to establish in many countries of the world. Enthusiasts who are engaged in assembling the Rubik's cube for a while are called speedcubes. Until 2014, official records were updated quite often, but to beat the best results over time becomes more difficult.

To date, the official world record: Rubik's cube is collected in just five and a half seconds. This result was given by Mats Wolf, having displaced Felix Zemdegs, who collected the puzzle in 5.66 seconds.

It is worth noting that the ex-champion recorded a video, which set a new record for the assembly. Rubik's cube he collected in just 4.21 seconds, but this fact is not official, and some even dispute this result. Another unofficial record is listed for the robot CubeStormer-3, which was designed by two enthusiasts. As it is not difficult to guess by the name of the robot, the designers have already tried to create a mechanism that can assemble a puzzle faster than a human, but they succeeded only in March 2014. World record: Rubik's cube CubeStormer-3 collected for 3.25 seconds, finally overtaking Felix Zemdegs.

Puzzle in the world

In the world there are always a lot of competitions connected with this puzzle. In addition to assembling various variations of the cube for a while, even competitions are held to collect the Rubik's cube with blindfolded eyes. Yes, few can even with open eyes in less than a minute to collect Rubik's Cube. The world record for blind assembly is 26 seconds! It belongs to Marcello Andrew, an enthusiast from Hungary.

The most famous speedcuber in Russia is Sergey Ryabko. His fame was won by many international competitions connected with the famous puzzle. Also Sergey is a two-time European champion in this kind of activity. Ryabko started his professional career in 2010. At this time in Moscow, an open championship was held on the assembly of the "Magic Cube", dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the puzzle. At these competitions, Sergei won in two categories. It is worth noting that at that time the speedcuber was only 15 years old.
