Cinema about wolves: more often not about predators, but about verwulfs

Many since childhood remember the book of Jack London "White Fang" and its adaptation. Wonderful was a movie about wolves! Now more and more are removed not about gray predators, but about verwulfs (in other words - werewolves). This is the fashion! These mythological creatures are present in the series ("Wolf Blood", "Wolf," "Vampire Diaries," "Supernatural," and others). They pay attention to them in franchises. For example, one of the teachers of Hogwarts (Rimus Lupine, performed by David Tuulis, appearing for the first time in the third part about the prisoner of Azkaban and who became one of the victims of Volan de Mort in the final of the saga) turns out to be a werewolf. And in "Twilight" there is a whole galaxy of human-wolves, led by a friend of Bella-Jason. They, in general, are good guys, these "twilight" Indians, who defend their territory from vampires. The famous fighter with evil spirits Van Helsing as a result of an unfortunate misunderstanding became a werewolf and even ruined (not purposely) his companion, being in an unattractive Verwulfian guise. All these pictures can not directly be called a "movie about wolves", but the wolves in them are important characters.

In direct and figurative senses

A good film was shot in 1994 by the legendary Mike Nichols (he is the unique owner of all the entertainment awards in the United States, including the Golden Globe and Oscar). It was a movie about wolves, which was called "Wolf". The idea of a tape, long nurturing, and finally found a very worthy incarnation, belonged to the performer of the main role, no less venerable than the director, Jack Nicholson. Speech in the story was about the editor Will, who was bitten by a wolf driven down by his car. As a result, the culprit of the incident itself began to turn into a wolf. What is interesting: although the speech in horror is, in fact, about the werewolf, the very word has never sounded in the frame. From the role of the future "she-wolf" Will Randall Laura refused to Sharon Stone, but she brilliantly played Michelle Pfeiffer. Often in a figurative sense, the expression "lone wolf" is used. Cinematography was no exception. An example is the story of an unsociable ranger played by Chuck Norris (The Lone Wolf McQuaid) or the Indian movie The Lonely Wolf, as well as the recent Russian crime series with the same name.

Victorian England

In 2010, the screens turned out the movie "Man-Wolf" (a remake of the same-named horror film of 1941). Not a very successful attempt, despite the abundance of stars: a Spanish Puerto Rican who has long worked in Hollywood, Benicio del Toro, Britons Emily Blunt and Sir Anthony Hopkins, as well as Hugo Weaving (the generation of mechanical evil in the Matrix, Agent Smith and the Elven Ruler in the Jesscon Sagas of Middle-earth). The picture tells about the tragic fate of the Englishman Lawrence Talbot, who returned in 1891 to his native penates after the death of his brother. This is a movie about wolves worth seeing, to admire the gloomy exquisite picture depicting the good old Victorian England, and even because of the above excellent actors. Sir Anthony shook the old days and, in the best traditions of Hannibal the cannibal, portrayed the eerie head of the Talbot family, for which he had a special gratitude.
