Children's chairs themselves: drawings, dimensions

Each parent sooner or later faces the problem of purchasing children's furniture, and a highchair is not an exception in this case. And the market with similar goods offers us a fairly wide range, however, when choosing, there are often some difficulties. In particular, what material is preferred? The tree in this fight, of course, wins, but the price of such a product leaves much to be desired. You can buy a plastic high chair, but it is not very pleasant to the touch and is not always convenient. There is a way out: make children's chairs with your own hands.

Appointment of a highchair

Using this piece of furniture has some features that depend on the age of the child. To teach the baby to the chair you need to start at a time when the child can already sit on his own (usually this is about 6-8 months old). At first, it is used only for feeding, and only then - for sitting during creativity or other things. To date, highchairs, made by themselves, which can be used for a child, are of two types:

  • Simple chairs that can hold even an inexperienced kid;
  • Chairs-transformers, performing several functions simultaneously.

With age, the child has a lot of hobbies that require holding a certain amount of time in a sitting position on a chair. The main function is still to use it for sitting at the table, including dining. A highchair made with your own hands made with all the wishes in mind, will become a favorite for your baby.

Necessary materials

To make a highchair by your own hands is very easy, strictly enough to follow the sequence of actions and have at hand all the necessary tools and materials. To make it you will need:

  • A few bars that have a section of 50x50 mm;
  • Bars with a section of 25x25 mm;
  • Bars with a section of 25x50 mm;
  • Board with a section of 25 mm;
  • Self-tapping screws;
  • Drill-screwdriver;
  • Screwdriver (if necessary);
  • sandpaper.

Since the chair is designed for children, it is worth remembering the high quality of the material and its safety for health. It is also necessary to think about what the size of a highchair should be. With your own hands to make this piece of furniture should be, using only those bars that have a flat and dry surface. Only if these rules are complied with, the lifespan of the chair will be significant.

Preparatory work

Before you make a highchair with your own hands, drawings of parts must be done. Before starting work, you must carefully prepare the workpiece. The material should be dried, then walk through the sandpaper on its surface. The last one needs to be done until the blanks are perfectly smooth. This is necessary to exclude the possibility of injury to the baby.

After the preparation of the material, a schematic drawing, the so-called sketch, should be made. If you master the highchair with your own hands, try to make the drawings as simple as possible. Then when you build, you will not have any difficulties.

Assembling legs

Begin to make children's chairs with their own hands you need from the bottom of the future product, namely from its legs. You will need two wooden pieces with a length of 27 cm and 52 cm. These details of the chair should be carefully processed using special tools for working with wood - a workbench and planes. All four sides of the bars should be brought to a size of 40x40 mm. For the convenience of processing, you can safely use the vice, between which you can shove the bar. To avoid the appearance of dents, it is necessary to take preventive measures, in particular, the use of gaskets made of thin aluminum or plywood, having previously given them a L-shape. After processing the legs of the future chair, the planer needs to perform the marking and remove the excess parts with an electric jigsaw.

Assemble the crossbeams and backrests

At this stage, the backrest of the product is constructed, as well as the corresponding crossbeams. The bars for the crossbeams should be about 17 cm long, and for the backrest - 16 cm. When cutting the crossbeams and backs, you need to make an allowance of about 5 cm. You can not forget about this because they are extremely necessary for further processing. The process itself is similar to the previous procedure. As a result of all the actions you should get bars with the following parameters:

  • 10x15 mm;
  • 20x20 mm;
  • 20x45 mm.

To sit, you need to take wooden boards, there must be two. And the sizes should be the following: 150х250х25 mm. These boards need to be stretched from four sides. Gaps in this case are not allowed. After the faces are processed, the sharp corners of the boards should be rounded. In this you will help different patterns. In the end, these blanks must necessarily be worked with sandpaper, especially for the ends of the bars, which as a result should be perfectly smooth.

Manufacturing of locks

This stage involves the following steps. First of all, using a drill, in accordance with the existing markings on the legs of the future stool, you need to make holes that are not through, but deaf. To facilitate the implementation of this task will help all the known tool - the chisel. Using this device in combination with the chisel, all excess wood must be removed from the resulting grooves.

Selecting the method of fixing parts

Before the direct assembly of all parts, you must choose the method by which they will be attached to each other. There are several ways:

  • with spikes;
  • Using glue;
  • With the help of nails;
  • Method of wedge.

The latter method is the most popular. For this, it is required on spikes, which are located on the crossbeams, to make a saw cut for the entire length of 5 mm wide. Wedges should be about 5 mm shorter than grooves, however, their width is recommended to be made larger by 0.5 mm. Before inserting the beams into the grooves, the wedge should be mounted in the resulting cut, then collect all the details with a mallet. This will lead to the fact that the wedge will expand the spike and loosening the chair will not threaten.

Final assembly of the product

After all the blanks are cut out and their surface is smooth enough, you can safely proceed with the final assembly of the product. You will get more reliable highchairs, with your hands additionally smearing all their joints with PVA glue. Start the assembly from the frame. To do this, you need bars measuring 15x15 mm and self-tapping screws. After the frame is designed, you can mount the board, which will act as a seat. Before this, it is desirable to make holes in the bars for self-tapping screws. This is necessary in order that the assembly of the chair, namely, when fastening the fastener, the product is not damaged. The bars themselves need to be attached to the inside of the crossbar, and only then to install the seat itself.

Independently it is possible to make and children's little tables-stools by own hands, such as on a photo more low.

You can finish the job by covering the whole chair with lacquer, pre-painting the product in the desired color.
