Bogdan Shershun: Ukrainian Star

Bogdan Shershun is a well-known Ukrainian football player, whose career peaked in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Football name made himself thanks to performances for the Ukrainian "Dnepr" and Moscow CSKA. He became one of the few Ukrainians who won during their career the European Cup tournament.

First steps in football

Shershun Bogdan Nikolaevich was born in the western Ukrainian regional center Khmelnitsky on May 14, 1981. The childhood of the future star passed usually: a kindergarten, then a school. Of course, the guy spent a lot of time on the street in peer companies. At that time, the guys spent much of their leisure time outdoors, because, fortunately, there was still no mobile phones, internet and computer games. In the courtyards constantly played football. On such games often came representatives of local football clubs. They pursued a prosaic goal: the most talented guys had to be invited to the Junior School for a more detailed teaching of the basics of this game. This is how Bogdan Shershun (football biography - below) got to the school of Khmelnitsky "Podillya". Then he was spotted by the scouts of the Dnieper, and he could not refuse such an offer.

Speech for the Dnipro

The transition from "Podillya" to "Dnepr", even at the level of youth teams - is a significant career success. As you know, the main team from Khmelnytsky never once rose in the history of the first Ukrainian league, but the Dnipro almost never dropped out of the TOP-10 of Ukraine's top league.

Bogdan Shershun made his debut for the main team very early. Of course, he did not set a record for the debut age in the top league, but still few players play for the main team at 17.5 years. October 5, 1997 "Dnepr" held a home match with the Donetsk "Metallurg", in which Bogdan Shershun came on as a substitute in the end of the match.

The playing role of a football player is a defender. In most fights Bogdan played the role of the central defender. Sometimes he had to close the position of the flank defenders, but Shershun did not really like to play these positions. His speed data did not give the opportunity to constantly keep on the flanks for fast rivals winger. Therefore, the position of the central defender was ideal for the athlete.

Bogdan Shershun - a football player who played in the "Dnieper" twice. In the period from 1997 to 2002, the footballer spent 100 matches for the main and backup teams (Dnipro-2 and Dnepr-3) and scored two goals for a double.

From 2005 to 2010, Shershun had 79 fights and was able to score 4 goals. This player was one of the symbols and pillars of protection of the Dnepropetrovsk club.

The period in CSKA

From 2002 to 2005, the Ukrainian held in the Moscow CSKA. It is very difficult to evaluate the years spent in Russia unequivocally. It seems that Bogdan Shershun won several serious titles with the club, but at the same time he could not become a full-fledged player of the main line-up. One thing is for sure: the athlete received an invaluable experience under the leadership of Valery Gazzaev, who will be useful to him in his independent coaching activities.

In 2003, the pupil "Podillia" managed to win together with CSKA Russian Championship. In 2002 and 2005, the army team was able to win the Russian Cup. Well, the main post-Soviet victory for CSKA and one of the two most important football victories for Russian football after the collapse of the USSR happened in May 2005, when in the final of the UEFA Cup CSKA defeated 3: 1 with PSV.

For 3 seasons Bohdan Shershun had 81 matches in his team (76 on other sources) and scored 2 goals against opponents. The main reason for the return of the central defender to the Dnipro is a systematic miss in the main squad at the beginning of the 2005/2006 season.

Shershun and other teams

In 2009, the former soldier loses his place in the main structure of the Dnipro, so he gradually began to search for a new place to continue his career. Because I still felt the strength to play at a high level. After a while there was a variant with rent in Kiev "Arsenal". In the team of Leonid Kuchuk from 2009 to 2012 ("Arsenal" bought the contract Shershun) player spent 55 fights. Of course, it was already the sunset of the athlete's career, but after the completion of the contract with the Gunners, Bogdan continued the search for a new club. Speech in the "Kryvbas" was a pretty promising option and could be longer than one season, but the Krivoy Rog club at the end of the season 2012/2013 withdrew from professional competitions. The 2013/2014 season, which Bogdan Shershun held in Lutsk, was the last for him as a player.
