BMW X6 2014 - review of the updated Bavarian crossover

German engineers of the company "BMW" every year are engaged in updating and improving their model range of cars, as well as the development of new crossovers and cars. And in 2014 the concern decided to restyling its brand-new crossover BMW X6 2014. The review of this car and the photos is in our article.

Appearance

The design of the renovated car can be said to be half-car. But still the Germans did not deprive the novelty of the massive details and aggressiveness. Thanks to the proprietary "angel eyes" the look of the car becomes even more romantic and mysterious.

Relief of the new SUV suffices quite - along the entire perimeter of the body beautiful aerodynamic and broken lines and, of course, muscular bloated wheel arches. Round "guns" of antifog headlights harmoniously look at the background of black inserts and chrome frames with stripes. Clearance even externally seems very large. True, because of low-profile tires, it's very difficult to call it a full-value all-wheel drive SUV (and although there is a 4-by-4 drive in the package). In the rest, the BMW X6 2014 completely copies the features of its predecessor X5 series. True, it looks quite modern.

It is worth noting that this year the X6th slightly recovered in size. So, the total length of the SUV is 4909 millimeters, the width is 1989 millimeters, and the height is 1702 millimeters. At the same time, the ground clearance of the novelty remained practically unchanged and remained at the level of 21 centimeters. By the way, despite the increase in external dimensions, the curb weight of the car decreased by 40 kilograms. According to German developers, a reduction in the mass of the crossover design was achieved through the use of lighter aluminum parts, thermoplastic and magnesium.

As for the design, then almost everything was copied to trifles from the X5-th "BMW". Slightly increased space in the trunk - now it can accommodate up to 580 liters of load. But this is not all - if desired, you can increase this value to 1525 liters, folding the rear row of seats.

Specifications

On the world market the car will come out with a new line of power units. There are three of them. So, the weakest (if you can say so) is the 258-strong turbodiesel, which will be presented in a single package xDrive 30d. The next engine will be available in the sports version of the M50d. Due to the presence of a turbocharger, its total power grows to 381 horsepower, while the peak torque is at 740 N / m.

Also, the petrol version of xDrive 50i will be available to buyers. Cars of this modification are equipped with a powerful 450-strong unit with a double turbo. According to the manufacturer, the xDrive 50i version will be the most powerful of the entire model range, as the "hundred" dials in just 4.8 seconds. Not every car can boast such high-speed characteristics!

The company plans to install a 306-strong six-cylinder petrol engine for the second generation of BMW. It will go on sale together with a new version of xDrive 35i in 2015. In addition, production of the diesel version xDrive 40d with a straight-six 6-cylinder turbodiesel for 313 "horses" will be planned. All the above-described power units will be equipped with a single automatic transmission at 8 speeds.
It will be installed in both the base and the maximum configuration of the German crossover.

It should be noted that in Russia the start of sales of the new BMW X6 2014 is scheduled for December this year. At the same time, the crossover will be supplied to the domestic market in one all-wheel drive version. For an additional fee, the customer is given the opportunity to install an electronically controlled rear differential with variable thrust vector and a system for stable cornering at high speeds.

As for the cost of the German BMW X6 2014, the price of the Bavarian novelty is not yet officially known. Its Bavarian producer intends to voice this August.

As for the configuration ... Here the Germans did not conceal anything and gave a complete picture of the idea of the level of equipping the novelties this year. So, the basic equipment will include cast nineteen-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, an extended package of active and passive safety, leather interior trim, ventilated disc brakes for all 4 wheels, bi-xenon optics, LED brake lights, electromechanical power steering, and The electric drive of a door of a luggage carrier. As you can see, the level of equipment, as for the "base", is quite good.
