Bloody pages of Soviet history. Why collectivization was accompanied by dekulakization?

Dekulakization and collectivization have long been recognized as bloody pages of Soviet history. This was a real war, which the government of the USSR announced to the class of small "exploiters." During the repression caused by the dekulakization, an incredible number of people suffered - more than two million ordinary peasants were deported, more than six thousand died from hunger, hundreds of thousands died in exile. The bloody violence perpetrated against the peasants is the decisive stage in the Stalinist terror.

Prehistory

But why was collectivization accompanied by dekulakization? This is due to the fact that Stalin sought to get rid of the stratum of society, which could rise to fight against it, overthrow the dictator. The ruler's plans included collectivization in 1930 in the North Caucasus, the Middle and Lower Volga. Later, several agricultural regions producing grain would join this process. Stalin said that he intended to completely liquidate the kulaks as a class, in December 1929.

Categories of kulaks

The dekulakization operation was entrusted to a specially organized commission of the Politburo, which created a classification of representatives of the class of kulaks. The first, the most dangerous category included people involved in counter-revolutionary activity. They were going to be arrested, then sent to correctional labor, and in case of disobedience - to be shot. Families of kulaks of this category were expelled, and things were confiscated. This was the strongest class capable of fighting, that is why the policy of collectivization was accompanied by dekulakization, these peasants had to be liquidated.

The commission classified the kulaks as belonging to the second category, although they had no direct relationship to the counter-revolutionary actions, but they exploited the labor of others. Representatives of this group were arrested and sent into exile along with their families to distant regions of the country. The third category included kulaks, who do not oppose the Stalinist regime. Together with their families they were evicted from their places of residence and sent to new territories that were not related to collectivization.

Operation

In each separate district, commissions and brigades were created, which dealt directly with the process of dekulakization. It was an eerie and cruel spectacle: those who were considered undesirable were simply robbed and sent into exile in order to avoid any kind of uprisings and protests, that is why collectivization was accompanied by dekulakization.

The district brigade came to the houses of these peasants, took off all their clothes from them, primarily selecting their shoes. These groups could and should confiscate all the property of kulaks, including tea, jugs and pillows. The victims were even selected icons, smashed and thrown them.

Representatives of the brigades left the selected property to themselves or sold to their colleagues in the shop - the same brigades for dekulakization. The members of this group had absolutely unlimited powers. The definition of a person disagreeable at this time was very often due to the reduction of personal accounts.

The government sought to avoid any potential danger and eliminate all possible insurgents in order to create conditions in which no one would overthrow the authorities, that is why collectivization was accompanied by dekulakization.

The result

The history of Stalin's repression will forever be imprinted in the ages as a bloody, spooky period. Iosif Vissarionovich tried to protect himself, even from potential threats, but it only led to an incredible number of deaths and to the fact that he will forever remain one of the most cruel dictators of world history. And the answer to the question of why collectivization was accompanied by dekulakization is very simple: Stalin did not need people capable of fighting, and he got rid of them.
