The village of Blagoveshchenka (Altai Territory) is located on the site of the Kulunda steppe. This territory for many years became the refuge of the Teleut tribe. The Kulunda steppe was unsuitable for permanent housing because of infertile soil and waterlessness. That is why the tribe of Teleuts led literally a primitive way of life.

History

By the mid-1940s, the territories of the Kulunda steppe began to be actively populated by the first settlers, who were not afraid of waterlessness and practically unfit for cultivating the soil. The first settlers in these places were especially poor peasants. A distant and unexplored region gave many families hope for a good, hunger-free life. But they were disappointed. Local residents did not really want to share their land with the settlers. This gave rise to a brutal struggle between the peasants. But it did not last long. Soon there was a state decree that Voronezh settlers were allocated 15 dessiatins per peasant's soul.
However, this did not save them from problems. Due to the lack of natural water sources, they had to wander from one land to another. This continued until they reached the territories near the lake Beshtanka. Thanks to the pond, this area did not know the drought, and the soil was incredibly fertile. In addition, the trade route to the Yamyshevskaya Fair was nearby.

The inhabitants of the future village earned their living only by farming. They grew cultivated plants year-round. Especially famous for the future of the village brought watermelons, which enjoyed incredible demand in all the nearby bazaars and fairs.

Location and economics

The village of Blagoveshchenka is located in the same area of the Altai Territory, near two water bodies: Kuchuk and Kulunda lakes. About 300 km - the path from it to Barnaul (the western direction).

The number of inhabitants of the village barely reaches the level of 12 thousand people. The predominant part of the national composition is occupied by the Russian population.
