Berehove, Transcarpathia. Rest in Berehove, Transcarpathia: reviews and photos

The city of Berehove (Transcarpathia) is located in the lowlands of the most mountainous region of Ukraine. It's a small town. Its ancient history dates back to the Roman times. And unique mineral springs attract visitors from all over the country.

Variegated historical background

To a little more clear became local features, it is worth at least superficially acquainted with the history of the city. The settlement of the Romans, located on the site of the modern Berehove (Transcarpathia), is known from the works of Papa Pariz Ferenc, who lived at the end of the XVII century. This statement did not find unequivocal support from scientists, but it is documented that after the death of the Hungarian King Bailo I this part of the land passed to his youngest son - the Duke of Lampert. And in 1063 he founded a settlement here.

As usual, along with the official version, there is a beautiful legend about the foundation of the city. According to ancient legends, a shepherd named Sas was looking in that area for his herd. At some point, two huge strong bulls did not share something and began to fight with each other. Being unable to stop the animals, the shepherd just watched from afar.

The battle was fierce. Opponents dug the ground with powerful hooves. Eventually, whirling in one place, they dug a hole, at the bottom of which was a treasure. The history is silent about what became of the bulls themselves. But the shepherd built a temple on the bank of the river for the joy of the wealth that fell on him. And the city has gradually grown around the temple. So the pious foundation of the city is sung in legends.

The border town was constantly subjected to raids by the Polovtsians, who quietly exterminated the indigenous population. To strengthen this defensive point, in 1141 the Hungarian king invited the Saxons to the city, granting them trade privileges.

But already in 1241 the Tatars practically razed Berehovo to the ground. However, the city still revived and even received the status of royal. Soon after this, German and Italian masters were invited to the development of winemaking.

For a short time Berehovo was under the rule of the Transylvanian prince, and in 1687 it became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

In 1919 Romanians began to rule here, but soon the city was given over to Czechoslovakia. With the outbreak of World War II, Berehove again fell under the rule of Hungary. However, because of the defeat, this territory was given to the USSR. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Berehove (Transcarpathia) was in Ukraine.

Modern culture

It is not difficult to guess that such a historical "cocktail" has left its imprint on the culture, traditions and cuisine of this region. But, to the credit of the local residents, it seems that they absorbed only the best.

Residents of Transcarpathia are famous for their hospitality. If you make friends with a local, and he will invite you to look at yourself for tea, this tea will be accompanied by a covered table, akin to a small wedding.

You will notice that in Berehove (Transcarpathia) they are very tolerant towards representatives of other nationalities, religions and races. For centuries people have got used to live side by side with each other, not trying to cut all under one comb. They honor their traditions, but treat with respect others.

Local dialect

Most local residents from childhood freely communicate in three languages - Ukrainian, Russian and Hungarian. And when talking with family in one sentence, words from all three can coexist cozily. But, in addition, in Transcarpathia there is a special language that even residents of neighboring regions do not understand.

Hungarian cuisine

The motives of local dishes are more like traditional Hungarian cuisine. If you are going on vacation in Berehove (Transcarpathia), be sure to try them. In the usual menu there are many delicious meat dishes, generously flavored with spices, paprika and onions.

And a thick dinner or dinner is worth a high-quality local wine. You can buy the wine of the local wine-making company of the brand "Chizay" or try real home wine, which in Transcarpathia is made by the residents themselves in almost every yard of the private house. After all, the harvest of grapes from year to year is excellent. And winemaking traditions have been passed on to families from father to son for centuries.

Unique thermal springs

No matter how bright the local color is and no matter how elegant the traditional dishes and wine differ, this is by no means the main reason for visiting Berehove (Transcarpathia). Thermal springs with unique healing properties - that's what attracts tourists here.

On the whole planet, there are only such sources in four places: in Iceland, in the Kuril Islands, in New Zealand and, in fact, in Transcarpathia.

The word "unique" by no means implies any miracle cure or panacea for all diseases. But the mineral composition of water does have pronounced healing properties. Naturally, to feel the healing effect, it is not enough to plunge into the water once. It is necessary to undergo a whole course of treatment, preferably not less than ten days. By the way, in water it is not recommended to stay more than two hours a day.

Rest in the sanatorium

Those who plan to receive medical treatment with comfort, should take a ticket to the sanatorium. Berehove (Transcarpathia) has a wellness complex "Skylark" with several swimming pools. A full-fledged sanatorium is located nearby in the village of Kosino.

Bathing in Kosino in terms of mineralization are the same as in Berehove, and in size even more. Water is supplied from wells that are located at a depth of more than a kilometer. Before serving in the pools, it is cooled, since the temperature of the source itself is 55 degrees Celsius.

In each pool, the temperature is different - 24, 32, 36 and 38 degrees, so you can choose the most comfortable water for yourself. The indicator of mineralization of water is in the region of 24 percent. This is a very high content of minerals. Among them are hydrogen sulphide, sodium, iodine, potassium, iron and fluorine.

Such a combination has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, activates the processes of the immune system and is well reflected in the joints. Also, the adoption of mineral baths will help reduce pain in arthritis, cause for a while to forget about the radiculitis and even contribute to the recovery of the kidneys.

And although a course of treatment is required to obtain long-term results, all visitors are unanimous in that the effect is felt even after a single procedure.

Rest "savage"

Even without a trip to the sanatorium, you can safely go for recovery in Berehove (Transcarpathia). The private sector here will provide services not worse than any official complex.

Local residents have long adapted to provide services at the level of modern boarding houses. And the payment here is surprisingly sparing, especially in comparison with the popular resorts.

Arriving at the springs, you can easily find a place to live without problems. Most often it will be a separate extension in a private house. But you can rent a full-fledged guest house, built especially for tourists.

You can come to sources at any time of the year. Although the pools are located in the open air, the heat of the water is enough to feel comfortable in it.

So if you have the opportunity to come to Transcarpathia, be sure to use it and meet personally with this amazing edge.
