Basic Difficulties When Working as a Promoter

To date, in the major cities of our country there are almost no people left who do not know what a promotion is. Many, and perhaps most of us, have seen how to carry out promotional activities on the streets of cities, supermarkets and shops, shopping centers. Some, for sure, themselves took part in them: they tasted something, received gifts when buying goods, leaflets with information about discounts.

The main person of the promotion is, of course, the promoters-the very people who invite us to take part in them, with a sweet smile give us a leaflet or a prize for a purchase. Promoter today is, perhaps, one of the most popular among the youth professions, because it does not require special skills (the main thing is pleasant appearance and desire to work) and makes it easy to combine work with study. And most importantly, the work of a promoter makes it possible to earn good money and while it is interesting to spend time talking with people.

But let's talk about the difficulties that await a young man or a girl who expressed a desire to become a promoter. There are not many difficulties, but, like in any other sphere, they are and they need to be known in order to successfully avoid them and not be disappointed ahead of time in this interesting profession.

1) Choosing a promotion. Vacancies with proposals to participate in promotions are very many, just open a newspaper or get on the Internet. Pay for each action in different ways, starting somewhere from 150 rubles per hour and above (data for Moscow). Payment depends primarily on external data, work experience of the applicant and working conditions. Street stocks are usually paid above the store, especially in the cold season. Work at exhibitions, in clubs and outings is paid even better, but in this case, as a rule, girls and boys with model data are taken. In any case, a novice promoter can not claim the highest bid, for starters it is necessary to gain some experience. Perhaps, after the first action, you will realize that this type of activity does not suit you at all because of, for example, natural shyness and problems with communicating with strangers. Therefore, for a start, it's worth trying out for stocks with simple mechanics at a standard rate.

2) Selection of agency. Today, only in Moscow there are about 150 agencies organizing promo-actions for the most different scenarios, and all of them require promoters. And, if you have found for yourself a suitable share for your parameters, do not rush to immediately respond to a vacancy, pay attention to the agency that organizes it. Unfortunately, not all agencies work in good faith and honestly. Many of the promoters were victims of unscrupulous agencies that did not pay their earned money, were heavily fined without explanation or delayed payments for a very long time. Therefore, first of all try to find reviews about this agency on the Internet and read what the promoters write about it that already worked there. In addition, give preference to major agencies that have long and successfully worked in the market of promotion. Do not mess with a small, just opened agency yesterday, and even worse with a private person. The likelihood that you will be deceived with a salary in this case is very high. In order to additionally protect yourself, specify when you are hiring a contract or labor contract, however, then be ready to pay the tax percentage from your salary.

3) When you come to the agency, pay attention to the atmosphere that reigns there. Do not be afraid of fuss and a lot of people - this is normal for this area. Be sure to get acquainted with the manager of the lead project, with the HR manager. Do not hesitate to ask all the questions you are interested in - in a bona fide agency you will be responded to without a hitch. If you feel that important issues are bypassed or hushed up (for example, a monetary issue), think again if it is worth contacting this agency. Be sure to clarify the issues related to penalties, so that the penalties are not an unpleasant surprise for you. Do not forget to take the instruction with working conditions and written penalties.

4) Casting. Do not expect that when you come to the agency, you will be immediately released on the project, most likely, you will have to undergo the necessary selection procedure - casting. On some projects castings can take place in two stages - internal casting, where the project manager from the agency talks to you, and if you pass it, you are invited to casting with the direct customer of the action. The customer conducts a personal interview with each competitor, on which he selects promoters, most suitable for the parameters of the action. It is better to come to the casting in dress, with soft make-up and manicure, the lack of massive jewelry, piercings and tattoos in a prominent place. Most customers do not welcome such kind of creativity in the ranks of their promoters. You will be asked about the experience of work, they will be asked to tell about yourself, perhaps something about the action (in this case, in the agency you will have to issue an instruction with the conditions of the action in advance). To be afraid of castings is not necessary - this is a standard interview, as when taking any job. It's better to tell everything honestly, do not think up your own work experience or assign extra years - an experienced client will see right away and then you will not be recruited for sure. But at the same time, it is necessary to show oneself from the best side, telling about all your merits, possibly even not related to this work. It often happens that preference is given to promoters without work experience, but as it is now fashionable to say, "with an active lifestyle". So, everything depends on you here!

5) Directly the place of work. If you successfully passed the selection procedure and you were put to work already at a specific point, remember that here you may also be awaited by some difficulties. Let's talk a little about them. Your supervisor at the place of work is a supervisor, who is responsible for the work of his promotional team directly at the venue of the action. On the eve of going to work, you must call the supervisor and specify the address of the point, the time of work, the procedure for obtaining promotional materials. All questions that arise in your place are decided by the supervisor. He is obliged to contact the administration of the point, to settle conflict situations, to supply you with advertising material. The supervisor is responsible for your work in front of the agency, but often, the supervisor does not want to perform his duties conscientiously and because of his fault you may have problems, for example, the advertising material ends. In this situation, it is not necessary to cover the supervisor, even if he asks to do this, it is better to call the agency immediately and report problems to the manager, and otherwise because of the careless attitude of the supervisor to work, they can fine the entire team, including promoters.
