Artists-abstractionists: basic ideas, directions

Translated from Latin abstractionism means removal, distraction. This was the name of a new kind of art that arose in the twentieth century. Its essence consists in refusing to depict real phenomena and objects in graphics, painting and sculpture. Artists, abstractionists created non-figurative, pointless compositions that open up a certain "new" reality. This is especially evident in the works of P. Mondrian, K. S. Malevich and V. V. Kandinsky.

Abstractionism

This direction arose on the basis of such well-known trends as Futurism, Cubism and Expressionism. Representatives of the new trend in art sought to "harmonize", depict some geometric forms and color combinations, causing the viewer certain associations. The date of the emergence of abstractionism is considered to be 1910, when in Munich V. Kandinsky presented a treatise "On the spiritual in art". In it, the artist, relying on scientific discoveries, substantiated this creative technique. During the Second World War, a school of abstraction arose in the United States. Over the years, this direction is becoming increasingly popular. The first American artists-abstractionists M. Toby and J. Pollock bravely experiment with unexpected texture and color combinations. Their works convey the subjective fantasies and impressions of the authors, engendering emotional empathy and the movement of thought.

Contemporary artists-abstractionists

Perhaps the most famous representatives of this direction are P. Picasso, P. Mondrian, K. Malevich, M. Larionov, V. Kandinsky, N. Goncharova, Fr. Kupka. American artist J. Pollock introduced a new technique called "dripping", which involves spraying paints on the canvas without using a brush. The works of K. Malevich combine the formlessness of the images and the brightness of the shades, reminiscent of the play of light. Artists, abstractionists N. Goncharova and N. Larionov create a sub-direction - radiation, a feature of which is light transmission. In 1940, representatives of the new trend in art organized the association "Salon des realites nouvelles", which produces a thematic magazine.

Abstractionism

Art critics distinguish two distinct directions of this style: geometric and lyrical abstractions. The first course is based on clearly and precisely delineated figures, while the second is dominated by freely flowing forms. The paintings of contemporary abstract artists reflect other directions of this new art form. Cubism : in the works there is a tendency to "shatter" existing objects into geometric forms. Zionism is based on light transmission, because the person perceives not the object itself, but the rays coming from it. Neoplasticism : abstract artists working in this direction prefer large rectangular planes, painted in the main shades of the spectrum. Tashism - the so-called painting with spots, not recreating the images of reality, but expressing the unconscious activity of the creator. Suprematism found expression in a combination of multi-colored planes of the most elementary geometric outlines.
