Army knife "Shmel"

It's hard to imagine a real man without an accessory like a knife. This object has long been accompanying the representatives of the stronger sex both in hunting and fishing, and in any economic troubles. An accessory can become a real weapon.

With the passage of time, the shapes and sizes of knives changed, but the knife "Shmel", included in military equipment, did not lose its relevance. It is an integral part of an army suit and is also called a bayonet knife.

What is a bayonet knife?

A bayonet knife is a weapon that can be used in two ways: as an ordinary cutting tool or attach rifles and rifles to the barrel and apply in combat.

The bayonet knife inflicts deep piercing strokes, can become stuck in the tendons. Such force of blow is explained by the fact that the blade fixed on the weapon has more powerful force of influence, after all the blow is applied by two hands. If the blade has a good grin, it will easily enter the target. Therefore it is not made too sharp. However, the blunt edge for the knife is a disadvantage. Therefore, the excellent characteristics of the bayonet as an instrument reduce its fighting qualities, and vice versa. When designing tools, designers take these features into account.

The equipment of the Russian soldier includes two knives: multifunctional and combat. The second is sometimes replaced by a bayonet knife. All tools have increased strength. Since 1993, they are produced by the company KAMPO, specializing in the manufacture of military, diving, rescue equipment. Many years of experience in production and design allowed the company to participate in the project to prepare equipment for the Russian military.

From the history

The history of the knife "Bumblebee" originates many centuries ago. Bayonets on rifles began to be used in the XVII century in the French army. This was explained by the convenience of using such weapons at close range. It is not possible to use firearms in a near-collision situation. The appearance of the bayonet facilitated the task of the soldiers.

Later, with the development of technology, when the production of firearms took on a mass character, bayonets lost their relevance.

In the 50's in Russia, bayonets appeared in the sports field, in fencing on carbines.

The need for bayonet knives was felt by the fighters during the war in Afghanistan. In this area, standard weapons are not very effective. Gradually began to introduce bayonets. They have become a universal tool that helps soldiers survive in difficult climatic zones.

American soldiers even during the Vietnam War said that their equipment, weapons and knives are not suitable for use in local conditions. The old bayonet-knife design was unsuccessful and uncomfortable. I must say that many universal guns are considered not very reliable. After all, the knife is designed to perform some functions, and the bayonet is for others. The combination of different functions reduces the performance of weapons.

In 2010, a bayonet "Shmel" was born, combining multifunctionality and reliability. With his invention, the accumulated experience of past developments was taken into account.

Combat knives in Russia are produced under the designation 6 x 9. Today, the name knife "Shmel" "Ratnik" is also popular. These guns are produced in the framework of the project "Ratnik" by the Nizhny Novgorod company SARO, who won the contest for the production of combat knives.

Weapon Features

Knife "Bumblebee" - an army tool, needed as a weapon and for survival. Its purpose is:

Blade

The blade of the knife "Shmel" is made of high-alloy steel, not subject to rust and oxidation. It is also given a hardness in the range of 55-58 units of Rockwell, which makes the blade flexible and elastic.

The surface of the blade is matte, which excludes glare. Anti-reflective coating is one of the requirements for army weapons. The shape of the blade is diamond-shaped, with one and a half sharpening.

The blade can not be very sharp, so as not to cause injuries due to inaccurate handling and not enter the body too deeply.

The blade of this weapon does not have a hole for nippers, shock teeth, but it has a longitudinal groove that helps to relieve weight.

The blade is protected by steel sheath, which guarantees safety when wearing this weapon. The surface of the scabbard is covered with a black polymer.

Garda

The knife is equipped with a guard made of high-strength steel. This is the crossbar that separates the blade and handle. Garda is needed to prevent slipping when striking. Garda has a special design:

• Its upper part is bent towards the foot, which creates a support for the thumb and makes it possible to hook the knife by the belt;
• The lower part is made in the form of a ring, so that it can be put on the barrel.

Handle

The shape of the handle of this good knife is comfortable, ergonomic, made of high-strength rubber, which has oil-and-petrol resistance.

Such rubber gives the surface roughness, which makes it convenient to find a knife in the palm of your hand. Six additional grooves are additionally made on the handle.

Rubber ensures a long operation of the knife, because it is not afraid of dampness, dirt, the impact of an aggressive environment.

The handle has a noble black color. Its end part has a rounding with a groove in the form of the letter "T" and a spring latch for fastening to the machine.

Such knives belong to the group of cold weapons, so their free carrying is not allowed to civilians.
