In earlier times, the anise ordinary (photo) grew solely in Asia Minor, in other countries, including Russia, came from merchants who were distributing spices for cooks. Today, it is difficult to believe that anise ordinary was difficult to meet in the meadow in European countries (as in Russia). In Rome, this plant was used as a means for rejuvenation. From history it is also known that many Romans, including the famous writer Pliny, used the infusion of plants to give fresh breath. In modern society anise is known as a useful and appetizing seasoning for culinary dishes, pickles, it is also used for baking bread.

An important part of the plant is its seeds, which are also considered fruits. Externally, they are similar to dill, but differ somewhat larger. In nature, green and brown-gray seeds are more common. The anise contains useful essential (anethol, aldehyde, ketone, anisic acids) and fatty oils. Extract from the plant is characterized by a sweetish taste and pleasant aroma.

To a greater extent the fruits of anise ordinary are used to obtain high-quality exquisite spicery. They pre-cook prepared fish, meat, as well as all kinds of salads, hot dishes, including dairy, drinks, which are especially spicy. After adding anise to sweet desserts, in particular cakes and cakes, they are especially appetizing and tasty.

In medical practice, seeds are used to make various infusions and medicines that have their purpose. It is known such a useful property of this medicinal plant as the removal of excess fluid from the body (diuretic), improvement of the gallbladder (choleretic), it is also useful as an excellent antiseptic, with which you can cope with acute respiratory disease, reduce body temperature. Anis is known in medicine as a means of increasing the production of breast milk in women and contributing to the normalization of digestion. It is also able to eliminate migraines, heal from bronchitis, pertussis, laryngitis, vegeto-vascular dystonia, and relieve stomach and bowel disorders.
