Animals of Eurasia

Speaking about the animals of Eurasia, it should be noted that this continent includes an extremely extensive territory. Therefore, the animal world of Eurasia is very diverse. On its territory there are many geographic belts of the globe.

The largest belt is the taiga. Eurasian animals such as brown bear and elk, wolverine and lynx, chipmunk and squirrel, fox and rabbits, wolf and moose, as well as various small rodents live here. And this, of course, is not the whole list of animals living in the taiga.

The world of birds is very large in the taiga. This is black grouse, hazel grouse, and wood grouse, and croquettes, and crows, and tits. All the animals and birds listed above are also common in the lowland taiga and in the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia.

In broadleaf forests of the continent, large mammals, both predators and herbivores, once lived. Most of them were destroyed, because they were of value to humans. Because of the fur and meat, they were actively hunted by a man. Today, Eurasian animals living in the forest zone are mostly under the protection of the law. They are brown bear and roe deer, bison and red deer, forest marten and wolverine, weasel and mink, wild cat and fox, hedgehog and elk, wild boar and wolf, hare and hare, ferret and ermine.

But the forests were cut down, and the land was plowed. And this fact led to the spread of rodents, such as voles, shrews, ground squirrels, groundhogs, which hurt the agriculture.

Of the birds also in the forests live hazel grouse and black grouse, partridges and wood grouse, as well as a great number of songbirds. The thrush and the Orioles, the felid and fir-trees, the nightingales and titmouses - they all inhabit a large area of the mainland forest zone.

We can not fail to note a great variety of waterfowl. Also near the human habitation settle swallows, sparrows, rooks, crows, pigeons, cuckoos, rooks, storks. Many birds are migratory. Therefore at a certain time, gathering large flocks, geese and ducks fly to the south, cranes and rooks, storks and swans, and to the north with the onset of heat flies the bullfinches.

And how diverse is the underwater world! In the rivers and lakes of the middle belt there are pike and carp, carp and burbot, catfish and roach. Representatives of the class of salmon are also frequent.

There, on the rivers, you can meet muskrat, otter and great toiler - beaver.

Speaking about the northern regions of Eurasia, entering the zone of the tundra, it can be noted that, despite the fairly low temperature, and there live a variety of animals. Most of them are predators that can eat fish. Due to the fact that the land is covered with snow for most of the year, the plant world is extremely poor. From the herbivores in the tundra are widely represented only the northern deer, having the ability to feed on moss, shoveling snow and finding it there.

Absolutely all the animals of Eurasia living in the north of the continent have a luxurious fur that protects them from the cold. And the color of winter coats in these inhabitants is mostly white.

It should be noted such inhabitants of the tundra as polar bear, Arctic fox, northern fox, northern wolf, hare, lemming, ermine, white partridge, white owls, eiders and loons. In the water there are walruses and seals.

An interesting fact is that lemmings, which in the tundra live a great many, are food for almost all inhabitants of this climatic zone. Even the reindeer, referring to herbivores, does not disdain to regale this small rodent, if it suddenly finds it.

Animals of Eurasia, living in the steppe and forest-steppe zone, are mostly herbivorous. These are saigas, different breeds of wild horses, including the kulan and the almost extinct species - Przhevalsky's horse, roe deer.

Before, large herds of buffalo roamed the steppes along the steppes. But they were also destroyed. Today bison are rare Eurasian animals, which, like the Przewalski horses, are listed in the Red Book and are protected.

Hunting for herbivorous steppe wolves and meadow coyotes. Widely represented in this zone are birds of prey, such as the kestrel, steppe eagle, snake, griffon. These birds feed on small animals and birds, do not disdain rodents.

Rodents include hamsters and marmots, ground squirrels and jerboas, mole rats and rats.

In the mountainous regions of Eurasia live mountain goats - arhars, yaks, kukuyamans (mountain rams), llamas, condors, snow leopards. A huge number of insects and birds completes the list of mountain inhabitants of one of the largest continents of the Earth.
