Animal lover - an unusual manufacturer of high-end coffee

A small animal lyuvak, also known as musang or palm civet, belongs to the family of wiverworms. Tropical forests are the main habitat of musangs, but the range of their distribution is quite diverse. The main area of distribution of people is Africa, South and South-East Asia, including the Philippines and Indonesia. An animal lover with a body weight of 1 to 15 kg resembles a marten or ferret outwardly, the length of his body varies from 30 cm to 1 m. Fans are active mainly at night. Often an animal lover is the goal of hunters who want to get not only valuable civet fur, but edible meat.

Food

An animal man lives on trees and is a small predator, but the basis of his nutrition is not only meat, but also various insects, as well as fruits, nuts and other plant components, including coffee tree grains. Musangs carefully choose the most ripe and undamaged coffee fruits thanks to their scent, which allows them to find fragrant and tasty coffee beans.

Production of high-end coffee

An animal lyuvak eats coffee beans in such quantity that it can not digest them. When coffee beans get into the body of the lyubaka, their fermentation takes place, which subsequently reflects on the taste of the grains. In the stomach of the animal, the process of digesting the pulp of coffee fruits takes place, and the coffee bones are removed naturally, acquiring a slightly altered appearance. They are collected, thoroughly cleaned and rinsed from litter. After that, workers of the coffee plantation dry the coffee beans in the sun - so they are lightly fried. After such actions, the sale of coffee begins, on which a lover is often depicted - the animal that "produces" an elite product.

As the research results show, such coffee is safe for consumers, because after careful processing of the beans, there are practically no pathogenic bacteria in them, and the subsequent roasting of the grains kill the remaining ones.

The production of such coffee requires a lot of manual work, takes a lot of time and effort, so it turns out a little. The rarity and high cost of coffee is a consequence of the destruction of the natural habitat of people, which causes a decrease in their numbers.

Until recently, palm civets were considered dangerous pests that were eaten by all ripe fruits, so they were exterminated by Indonesian farmers. However, as it turned out, in vain, because with the help of these small animals you can earn a lot of money for the production of elite coffee called "Kopi luvak", which became the most expensive for today.

A bit of history

When Indonesia was a colonial possession of Holland, local farmers demanded more taxes in the form of coffee beans, which were very much appreciated by the local population. Then the Indonesian farmers noticed that the coffee beans from musk deer are almost not digested, so they were thoroughly cleaned and supplied to the Netherlands. However, coffee from these beans was so fragrant and tasty that it began to gain popularity outside of Indonesia. So the original technology of coffee production "Kopi luvak" originated, which today is considered the most rare and unusual. Many coffee lovers refer to it as a fragrant drink that has a caramel flavor with a chocolate tinge. Try this coffee or not - it's up to you!
