White steppe mushrooms of Yeringa: characteristics and peculiarities of growing

Pleurotus eryngi - so scientifically called white steppe mushrooms. In addition, they are often referred to as royal oyster mushrooms, many consider them to be the most delicious mushrooms of this family. And indeed, they have something to call royal, because they are characterized by a large fruit body with a strong aroma and unique taste qualities.

Territory of distribution

In natural conditions, white steppe fungi are found in Europe, in Eastern, Northern and Central Asia, Africa. Their fruiting bodies grow on the roots or stems of deciduous trees and plants, they can also occur as parasites and saprophytes.

Steppe porcinia mushrooms: features

These mushrooms have a number of outstanding qualities:

High yield;

- Fruit bodies of the best quality;

- Mediterranean origin;

- a gray-brown hat, most often pressed down the center with a diameter of 3-12 cm;

- Fruit body white, in thickness - from 3 to 5 cm, narrowed to the base;

- the old fruiting bodies have a wavy edge of the hat;

- all parts of the fungus are suitable for consumption;

- fruiting is 120-140 g of fruit bodies per kilogram of fresh substrate.

Mushrooms eringa: a characteristic

The external appearance and size of the fruit bodies varies under the influence of external conditions, but still they retain the main characteristic features of their variety. The caps of royal crowns have a cream color ranging from light brown to a diameter of 3-12 cm. Initially, they are convex, and as they grow older they begin to crack down. A thick leg is 3-10 cm long, narrowed to the base. It has a white, delicate, but dense structure and is characterized by a strong aroma.

Fruit bodies of white steppe fungi contain a number of valuable compounds that stimulate the human immune system, and they are also characterized by a high content of antioxidants and polysaccharides of anti-cancer effect. In numerous studies of scientists, it is said that the extract of this fungus has an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. In addition, it should be noted that the Ering is widely used in cooking and is almost a delicacy.

Brief instruction on growing at home

The cubes of the substrate with the mushrooms do not need to be removed from the packaging bag, you should only partially open it by cutting the top layer about 2 cm above the cubes (the film will protect them from drying). Then you need to place the substrate in place with the following conditions:

- Daylight or artificial light should be about 500 lux 8-10 hours a day. The cube should not be exposed to direct sunlight.

- High humidity should be maintained at 85-90%.

- Keep the temperature within 15-20 degrees Celsius.

If you do not have the ability to maintain high humidity in the growing area of white steppe mushrooms, then you can put the substrate, for example, in an empty aquarium, you only need to water its walls with water and then cover it with a plastic bag. It should, however, be borne in mind that once or twice you need to pass into the aquarium air. Another method of ensuring high soil moisture is to place a cube with the substrate of the fungus in a thin peat layer approximately 3 cm.

Within a week after placing the cube in favorable conditions on the surface of the substrate should appear mushrooms. But the harvest can be collected only when their hat begins to be straightened. Fruit bodies from the substrate should be carefully unscrewed, leaving no traces on it (possible "roots" and dead mushrooms should be removed as soon as possible). Do not allow the drying of mycelium on the exposed surface during the cultivation. If there is a tendency for this, it is necessary to moisten it, for example, with a sprayer for flowers.
