White peacocks - what are these birds interesting?

Perhaps the most beautiful of all the big birds on earth - that's how many would describe a peacock, this bird, which in the literal sense of the word is the brightest representative of the family of pheasant. Few people know that there are about 200 species of these birds, including individuals that appeared as a result of various mutations. But especially white peacocks stand out .

Unique birds

Even without having such bright plumage as their famous colorful counterparts, they look truly gorgeous. White peacocks stand out in many ways. You can start with the fact that, unlike many other absolutely white fauna, they are not albinos. They are, so to speak, white by nature. And, accordingly, their eyes are not red, but, which is also very rare, blue (in males) and blue (in females). An incomplete dominant gene that determines white coloration is a key factor that must be considered by the people involved in breeding these birds.

It is true that the white peacock does not have such bright, iridescent colors in the plumage, as there is no famous "eyelet" on the end of the feather. But still, loosening the tail and becoming like a giant dandelion, it strikes the imagination with its beauty. A beautiful tuft, decorating his head, completes the picture. Actually, what we used to call the tail of a peacock is not that. In fact, these are feathers, which differ in length from all others. And their owners are only males. Well, a real tail, hiding behind all this beauty, nothing special is different. It is interesting that his beautiful feathering peacock demonstrates only in the mating season to attract females, three or four of which he usually manages to charm. So from season to season a new polygamous family is initiated. But at the rest of the time, it is almost impossible to get the peacock to pose in all its glory. His luxurious tail, he swells, only if he is angry.

Living decoration

White peacocks, like ordinary ones (if they can be called so) left a great mark in the culture, literature, religion and art of the peoples of many countries. In Iran and India, they are considered to be national symbols. Riding on this bird is often depicted Buddha. White peacocks, photos of which often appear on advertising brochures of zoos and national parks in different parts of the world, are suitable symbols encouraging visiting these places. Although today peacocks basically do not act as sacred birds, as in ancient times, their breeding and caring for them is for many people a matter of all life. Moreover, white peacocks, along with other birds of this species, do not require special care. Anyone who has ever bred ordinary chickens will easily cope with this task. Although keeping peacocks and chickens together is not recommended, as the latter just might be hammered to death. Even peacocks stand out because they adapt quite easily to different natural and weather conditions, they feel equally comfortable both in hot countries and in more severe northern ones. It is not surprising that on many photos photographed in various parts of the world, a white peacock turns out to be a key character.
