We sew fashion curtains for the kitchen with our own hands

The decoration of the kitchen window requires no less effort than the windows in the bedroom. After all, the kitchen is a place where every member of the family, especially the hostess, has a considerable amount of time. In addition, curtains or curtains should be practical and functional, beautiful and simple. Under all these options are suitable curtains with eyelets. And if you sew curtains for the kitchen with your own hands, then you will have not only fashionable cute curtains, but also a subject for pride.

Tips for beginners

If you are determined to sew curtains for the kitchen with your own hands, then listen to a couple of tips. First, eyelets are best to buy plastic. They are not as heavy and equally good for both light and dense fabrics. Secondly, to calculate the required amount of material for curtains with rings, multiply the width of the window by 2-2.5. So, for a standard kitchen window with a width of 1.30 m for two curtains, two cuts of a width of one and a half meters and a length of approximately 2.50 are required. The hem of the upper and lower edges will take up to 20 centimeters.

To sew curtains for the kitchen with your own hands, you will need:

  • the cloth;
  • Eyelets;
  • Lover or glue tape;
  • Ruler;
  • centimeter;
  • Disappearing marker or pencil;
  • Thread;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

Step-by-step guide "How to sew curtains for the kitchen with your own hands"

Top edge

You have two curtains of a width of 1.5 meters and a length of 2.5. If the diameter of the eyelets is 5 centimeters, then measure out with a ruler of 12 centimeters and with a vanishing marker draw a line on which the top will be turned. Cut a strip of 10 centimeters by 1.5 meters from the adhesive tape for each curtain. Glue it to the side of the drawn line. The remaining 2 centimeters are wrapped in a hem. And again, let the iron work. Now tuck and iron the glued part. Then boldly sew, leaving on the edges uncoated 3-5 centimeters.

Lower Edge

From the bottom of the cloth curtain, set aside 2 centimeters. Fold and iron. Wrap another 4 centimeters and again walk along the bent edge of the iron. Fix with studs and stitch.

Lateral edges

Trim the edge. Turn the lateral edge by 1 centimeter and iron. Then another centimeter, then press again. Sew on. If the edge is neat, not too dense and in tone does not differ from the cloth, then it can not be cut and twisted twice.

Installing eyelets

For a single curtain with a width of 1.45 meters (about 5 cm left for the processing of the side edges), prepare 10 eyelets with a diameter of 5 centimeters. But we need them twice as much, because we sew two curtains for the kitchen. Photos of the most difficult part - fastening rings - can be seen below.

The width of the bent edge is 10 centimeters. Set aside from the top edge 5 centimeters. Draw a vanishing marker along the entire width of the curtain.

Step back from the side edge of 5 centimeters and draw a small perpendicular line - this will be the center of the eyelet. From this point, postpone another nine points. So they will be distributed evenly, and between ready-made eyelets will be slightly less than 10 centimeters. If the width is different, or the number of eyelets is larger or smaller, carefully calculate their location. Your ideal creases on the curtain depend on this.

Attach the eyelet so that its center coincides with the point on the curtain. Circle the ring from the inside. Do this with every eyelet. Cut out the holes by stepping 2 millimeters beyond the intended circle.

Place the lower part of the eyelet under the hole on the underside of the curtain, cover with the upper part and, pressing it, snap it.

Everything, we installed the eyelets, and a beautiful curtain can be hung in the kitchen.
