Vertigo on rising: causes and treatment

Dizziness that occurs when you change the position of the body, the head, for example, when you get up, happens for some reason or another. If you are dizzy for a long time with every change in the position of the body, it is accompanied by a number of other symptoms, most likely the cause is a serious illness. Although dizziness on getting up began to be observed in recent years, more and more often, it seemed, quite healthy people (in 30% of cases of going to the doctor). What are the reasons for this prevalence? How to deal with this?

Causes

The most obvious cause of this kind of vertigo - an erroneous assessment of the position of the body in space - is a "malfunction" with the vestibular apparatus. Violation of the vestibular apparatus could be preceded by head trauma or stroke. Changes in the sense of balance could also occur due to inflammatory processes in the ears, due to violations in the entire vestibular apparatus (neuritis, neuronitis).

Another reason that causes dizziness when changing the position of the body, are sudden changes in blood pressure. Dizziness on getting up is accompanied by a heart beat in the temples.

But a large group of people who are prone to dizziness when changing positions, constitute the leading sedentary lifestyle. With prolonged sitting or lying down (especially lying), a sharp rise just leads to loss of balance, noise in the ears and a loud knock of the heart in the temples. These symptoms are aggravated with the development of another disease, also characteristic of a sedentary lifestyle - osteochondrosis.

Increasingly, they began to reveal that the cause of vertigo lies in psychology, i.e. Are associated with stress, depression, neurosis (obsessive state) and somatic (* somatic diseases are called, which could not have been, if the person himself did not invent them, if he did not feel the trouble to such an extent that they began to manifest in his body in The form of real physical pain, malaise and dizziness).

It is clear why a change in the position of the body in some cases, complicated by this or that disease or specific lifestyle, leads to dizziness. But in some cases, it catches dizziness when you turn your head. This dizziness is associated with vestibulopathy - the defeat of the vestibular system. The stronger, more pronounced, varied the symptoms (together with the symptoms described above, vomiting, impaired vision, weakening of the sense of smell, numbness in the limbs), the longer symptoms appear, the more reason to consult a doctor. This is already "can not be written" for a slight dizziness when getting up.

How to diagnose

It is possible to rely on the symptoms described in the article, but only for the purpose of determining to which specialist to go for a consultation. Only a doctor can diagnose, grounded by diagnostic methods, for example, tests (such as positional test). Ultrasound and computed tomography will clarify the diagnosis.

Possible treatment

Treatment, of course, will depend on the causes of dizziness.

In some cases, one single procedure can be helped in the hands of an experienced doctor. Whatever caused dizziness, do not be afraid of the alleged "deadly disease." Perhaps it is associated with a small defect, which is easy to fix.

In others, there will be enough drugs to reduce dizziness (in a group of people leading a sedentary lifestyle). Thirdly, dizziness on standing does not appear after a course of gymnastic exercises for the vestibular apparatus (the patient learns to coordinate his movements). And for the fourth, the treatment will be much more serious (antibiotics, injections, constant monitoring by the attending physician).
