The drug "Barium sulfate", or simply "Barit", is a radiopaque agent with low toxicity and intended for use during fluoroscopy. The latter is due to the pronounced adhesive properties of this drug, which is part of the group of alkali metal salts . It excellently envelops the mucous surface of the human gastrointestinal tract and, at times increasing the contrast, provides a very clear picture of the microrelief of the mucosa. At the same time, the best image of the esophagus, duodenum and stomach is achieved instantly after the administration of this agent inside, and the best image of the small intestine - after fifteen to ninety minutes.

Radioconcentrate "Barium sulfate" is produced, the price of which is about fifteen rubles, in the form of white powder without taste and smell. This drug is not soluble in diluted acids, water, organic solvents or alkali. In addition, barium sulfate is not poisonous, in contrast to, for example, other barium salts. At the same time, the radiopaque "Barium sulfate" can be used in the form of suspended matter, and in combination with semolina or kisel. List of contraindications
