Radioconcentrate "Barium sulfate" is produced, the price of which is about fifteen rubles, in the form of white powder without taste and smell. This drug is not soluble in diluted acids, water, organic solvents or alkali. In addition, barium sulfate is not poisonous, in contrast to, for example, other barium salts. By the way, for this reason, in order to avoid poisoning, this means used in X-ray diagnostics should not contain any impurities.

This medication is prescribed, as a rule, for patients who have to undergo diagnostics of diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract. It is especially good to use the agent "Barium sulfate" for fluoroscopy of the upper sections of the small intestine.

Use this radiopaque preparation is strictly prohibited in the case of established obstruction of the colon, as well as with perforation of the gastrointestinal tract. People with an individual intolerance to the barium sulphate salt should also not take this medicine. In addition, it is not recommended to appoint people suffering from dehydration. In the case of an acute form of ulcerative colitis or acute diverticulitis, it is likewise worthwhile refraining from taking the radiocontrast agent "Barium sulfate". In addition, the list of strict contraindications includes such diseases as cystic fibrosis and bronchial asthma.
