Tale of Charles Perrault "Ricke with a tuft": a brief summary, the main characters

"Rick with a tuft" - this is one of the most famous tales of the famous French writer S. Perrault. It was first published in 1697 in Paris, in the author's collection. The work occupies a special place in his work, as it has not become an artistic processing of folklore works, but, in the opinion of most critics, is an independent fairy tale. Nevertheless, there are obvious references to folk motives and legends in the text, which will be discussed below. After all, the writer actively studied common themes, which formed the basis of most of his works.

Creation

The tales of Charles Perrault are of great importance for the literary development of this genre. In fact, the writer was the first to seriously engage in magical stories created by a rich folk fantasy. The author's merit is that his published works contributed to the growth among the intelligentsia of interest in this genre. He has many followers, among whom are such famous names as the Brothers Grimm, Andersen and others.

The fact is that in the 17th century, when this remarkable author lived and worked, folk folklore was considered a low genre, and among the learned circles it was fashionable to study ancient literature and philosophy. Therefore, the tales of Charles Perrault literally gave a green light to the writing of works of this kind, as well as to their serious analysis, collection and systematization.

Writing

In 1697, the writer published his collection, which later made his name known to the whole world - "The Story of Mother Goose." The collection includes eight works written by prose (the author put this genre above poetry, considering him the successor of the ancient novel).

However, it also included several poems written by him even earlier - a short story and two fairy tales. The collection, which also included the work "Rikke with a tuft", was a huge success and contributed to the fact that many members of the intelligentsia became interested in fairy folklore. Currently, the book's works are popular, as many films, theatrical productions and ballets talk about.

Prehistory

Scientists unanimously agree that this tale does not have folk folklore roots. However, it is not an absolutely original composition. The fact is that one French writer Catherine Bernard, a year before the publication of the essay in question, published her version of a fairy tale, which is much more gloomy and more serious than Perrault's book. "Rick with a tuft" in this respect favorably differs from the said work by a happy ending, subtle humor and unobtrusive morality, and therefore it has become more widespread. She also resembles the fairy tale "Yellow Dwarf" by another French writer Marie d'Onua.

This book ends tragically: lovers were turned by an evil sorcerer into palms. It is not surprising that Perrot's version so much fell in love with the children, in contrast to the works listed, which were distinguished by an ominous plot and somewhat crude humor.

Introduction

The fairy tale "Rikke with a tuft" has a fairly traditional beginning, which can be found in many other works of this kind. The author briefly reports on the birth of two princesses and princesses in two kingdoms. The first was born a terrible monster: judging by the stingy descriptions of the author, he looked like a terrible dwarf with a hump on his back. My mother was very sad, but a fairy came to her and promised that the boy would be very clever and at one time able to make the girl that she loved most in the world smart. This promise calmed the unfortunate queen a little, especially since the child really grew very smart and intelligent.

According to the principle of opposition, wrote his fairy tale by S. Perrault. "Rick with a tuft" is a work that has a mirror story. In another kingdom an unusually beautiful princess was born, so that her mother was very happy and proud for her daughter. However, she gave birth to another girl, who was, on the contrary, very scary. The Queen was very worried about her, but the same fairy promised her that the little princess would be smart, while the beautiful, on the contrary, would remain stupid. When the mother began to ask for a bit of intelligence for the eldest, the sorceress replied that she could not do anything for her, but promised that she would one day be able to impart the beauty of a person whom she would love.

Development of action

The fairy tale "Ricke with a tuft", the summary of which is the subject of this review, is built on the same principles as other works of the author. After the above entry, the author briefly describes the life of his characters. The prince grew up and, remaining a freak, nevertheless showed so much intelligence and ingenuity that everyone around him was amazed at his wisdom and knowledge. The fate of the sister princess was completely different.

As the younger developed and over the years cleared, the older beauty, on the contrary, became more beautiful every day, but at the same time it was dumb, so that even parents sometimes could not resist not to choose their daughter for absent-mindedness and unimaginability. "Rick-tuft" - a fairy tale with a deep moral morality, to which the author proves that it is not appearance that determines the inner world of a person.

Comparison of heroines

The writer emphasizes the difference between these girls, describing the secular receptions, during which all at first tried to look after the eldest beauty, but almost immediately threw it because she could hardly connect a few words. Indicative is the fact that the author draws the reader's attention to the fact that she, being stupid, still realized the limitations of her mental abilities. Despite all her short-sightedness and slowness of thinking, the princess was aware of everything that was happening and, conscious of her backwardness, she was eager to get at least a little intelligence even at the expense of her extraordinary beauty.

Meeting of characters

One of the most famous works of the writer is a fairy tale "Ricke with a tuft". Who are the main characters - a question that shows its similarity with other works of a similar nature. Attention of the author is concentrated on two characters - the prince and the princess.

They both meet in the forest, and from the conversation the reader learns that Rika went in search of a beautiful princess, because he fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. The very same girl in a conversation with the prince told him that he was very worried because of his stupidity. In response, he promised to give her a mind, and she gave her consent to marry him a year later. After this meeting the princess became very clever, and in her life there were big changes.

The new life of the princess

The moral of the fairy tale "Ricke with a tuft" was presented by the author with a very subtle humor. The main idea is that appearance does not define a person's inner world, but his moral qualities. It is this thought that sounds during the second dialogue of the heroes. But first you need to tell about the changes that have taken place with the princess. She became very intelligent and sensible. Since then, even the king himself sometimes consulted her on certain state issues, and sometimes arranged meetings in her room.

The girl had a lot of fans who vied for her hands. After all these changes, the princess forgot about the promise she gave to the prince. However, one day she wandered into the same forest where she had met her fiancé a year ago and saw an unusual preparation of underground residents who informed her that their prince was getting married that day and they were preparing a wedding feast.

The second meeting of the heroes

The fairy tale "Rick with a Teddy", the main idea of which is that true love and without magic can change a person, reveals the characters during their new dialogue in the forest a year later. The prince reminded the princess of her promise to marry him, but the girl in reply tells him that now, having become clever, has become simultaneously legible. She asks him for forgiveness and declares that from now on she can not fulfill her promise, because she fell in love with another beautiful king's son and common sense tells her to accept his offer. In response, Rika objected to her that, since it was about his life and happiness, he intended to fight for his bride. Further, he tells her that she can make it beautiful at will. The princess, who liked everything in her fiance except appearance, immediately wished that he would become a beautiful young man, and the girl's desire was instantly fulfilled. In conclusion, the moral of the author sounds that the magic of the fairy in this case did not matter: just the characters fell in love with each other and were able to give each other what they lacked.

The image of the prince

The story "Khokhlik" is a story of two characters. The main character is Ricke himself, who, possessing an ugly appearance, nevertheless attracts others with his intelligence and discretion. In the work there are two scenes with his participation - these are two conversations of the character with the princess. Based on their conversations, the reader can form an idea of what kind of person he was. He is observant, as he immediately notices the sadness of the princess because of her stupidity and understands the reason for her experiences. The prince is sociable and friendly, in conversation with the girl he is emphatically polite, even during the second conversation, when she at first refuses to fulfill her promise and marry him. Ricke holds on with bribing simplicity: he starts talking with the princess, as with his old friend. The prince is very noble: thus, he does not demand and does not insist that the girl fulfill her promise and marry him, although she has the right to do so. As an intelligent person, he first ascertains the reason for her refusal and proposes to remove the obstacle that hinders their common happiness. Therefore, the finale looks particularly touching, especially after the heroine, convinced by his arguments, confesses to him in his feelings.

Image of the Princess

The author pays much attention to the disclosure of this character. The girl is interesting because she changes in the course of the narrative. At first the writer draws the attention of the reader to the fact that she is stupid though she has the capacity for introspection. The princess is aware of her mental retardation and is aware of everything that is happening around her. At her first meeting with Rika, the reader may notice that she does not have enough vocabulary to clearly and clearly express her thoughts, than of intelligence and discretion. In the mind of the girl, undoubtedly, there is active work, but she is not able to express it aloud and clearly formulate her ideas.

The meeting with Rika changes everything. And in this case, again, it's not magic. Mutual sympathy of the characters led to the fact that the girl gained clarity of thinking and the ability to normal speech. The fact is that Ricke talked to her like no one before. The author not for nothing emphasizes that everyone around could not keep up with her conversation and even loving parents from time to time reproached her for being distracted. And the prince communicated with her as with the most ordinary man: simply, openly, friendly. Such an affectionate and respectful treatment led to such an unexpected change in the image of the princess.

Changes in the heroic hurricane

Their second dialogue reveals the heroine from the other side. This time she spoke with the prince on equal terms. The girl tried to convince him of her rightness, but she did not succeed: after all, she now listened more to the voice of reason than to her own heart. However, impressed by the conversation with Rika, the girl confessed to him that she loved him. Realizing that she does not mind to marry him just ugly appearance, she wanted him to become beautiful, and her wish was fulfilled. This moment is interesting because in this scene the princess managed to overcome prejudices, which allowed her to see Rika from the other side.
