Solar nasturtium. Cultivation from seeds

There is no man on earth who will pass by this sunny flower indifferently. Its red, orange, salmon, pink and even white flowers create a mood. A bright, unpretentious flower is not only an excellent plant for creating screens, decorating containers, decorating balconies or creating curbs, but also serves people perfectly. All these words are intended for a flower, quite common in our region, nasturtium.

This southerner came to us from South America, where to this day is found in the wild. Therefore, the plant is thermophilic and photophilous, does not tolerate the slightest frost. Nasturtium is a one or perennial plant blooming from early summer to autumn. Her wrong flowers grow out of the sinuses of the leaves. Fruits of nasturtium are boxes. In the beginning of autumn, as the ripening ripens, the capsule splits into three parts, each containing a seed.

There is a bushy and winding nasturtium. Cultivation from seeds can give dwarf varieties, which form small compact shrubs up to 20-40 cm or stump plants, in which the stems grow to 2-4 meters. Nasturtium has a smooth, creeping, highly branched stem. We are mainly popular varieties of large, foreign or hybrid nasturtium.
Nasturtium foreign is able to quickly interlace tapestries, fences and arbours. Small, bright yellow flowers make this kind of nasturtium no less beautiful than the nasturtium is large.

Now gardeners often plant plants with a variety of colors of leaves: from green with a purple hue to variegated with a marble pattern. Simple or double flowers of nasturtium of modern varieties can be up to 5 cm in diameter. Very original look variegatnye two-color varieties with contrasting stains and strokes.

Most often, the plant is propagated by the seed method. Collected in autumn seeds of nasturtium are sown in April on seedlings or in early May, they can be sown in the ground. Seeds germinate in a week at a temperature above 100 C. They need to be sown in rows or nests at a distance of 40 cm from each other. In one nest, about 5 seeds are usually placed. Do the thinning as the emergence emerges. In the first 10-15 days, only a few times the soil loosens, where nasturtium grows. Cultivation from seeds assumes its flowering only after 40-50 days.

The flower can be grown through seedlings, or you can apply nasturtium seeding directly to the ground. Knowing that the nasturtium has a weak tender root system, and she hardly tolerates the transplantation, she often gets sick for a long time, it is better to plant her immediately to a permanent place. You can sow nasturtium and peat pills, so that during transplantation do not disturb the earthen lump.

Nasturtium is a photophilic plant. Therefore, it is planted in sunny and open places. This plant can not tolerate even the slightest frost. Young sprouts die already at a temperature of zero degrees, but under favorable conditions develops rapidly.

An excellent plant develops on light and drained soil, which contains fertilizer. Loose, moderately fertile soils should be where nasturtium grows. Growing from seeds on soils with excess humus or manure suggests that the plant will bloom weakly or buds will not appear at all. If the soil contains a lot of nitrogen, it will only damage the plant. During the growth of nasturtium, only phosphorus fertilizers should be introduced, as they stimulate flowering. It must be remembered that if the fertilizer is overdone, the leaves will dampen the flowers.

And in frequent watering does not need nasturtium. Cultivation from seeds requires only regular and abundant watering. If the moisture is not enough, the nasturtium will lose its ornamentality.

This flower grows well on a balcony in a pot or container. The main thing is that the pot must be roomy and filled with a fertile substrate. When the flowers grow, we need to support them, so that the shoots go up. Flowering nasturtium must be fed fertilizer for flowering plants.

When the construction of your garden is just beginning, when the bushes and perennials that make up its base have not yet grown up, take nasturtium as an assistant. She quickly closes all the empty places, decorates the flower gardens, and for a month she will surround the pergola and zadekoriruet wall.
