Scotch paint: types and spheres of application

Paint tape is a special paper tape, which is covered with a special glue, leaving no residue after removal. It is used in construction and finishing works, however, the scope of this material is much broader.

Scotch paint: types and technical characteristics

The painting tape is distinguished by the type of substrate on which the adhesive is applied. They are:

  • Paper;
  • Polyethylene foam;
  • Fabric;
  • Aluminum;
  • Bituminous.

Also, the fastener can be one- or two-sided.

Unlike other building materials, a paint tape with a paper base has several advantages. It is distinguished by a huge variety of width and thickness, low weight, low cost, and also has excellent technical characteristics:

  • High adhesion, i.e. excellent tackiness;
  • Good margin of strength and tear resistance;
  • Wide operating temperature range from -10 to +120 degrees Celsius;
  • Resistance to high humidity, frost and other adverse effects of the atmosphere;
  • Compatibility with a large number of different enamels, paints, elements and details;
  • Absence of traces after removal, or by their easy removal;
  • High elasticity.

Heat-resistant paint tape

Depending on the characteristics, several types of crepe tape are distinguished. Scotch paint heat-resistant is used in the process of automotive work, while it retains its adhesive properties when heated hot, when the temperature can rise to 120 degrees Celsius. Using crepe is appropriate when drawing a variety of logos and drawings on the car. This material does not allow paint to penetrate into the place of gluing. After the paint dries, the adhesive tape is easily removed, leaving no glue traces behind it.

The most heat-resistant is an aluminum-based tape coated with an acrylic adhesive. This type of scotch is used in the manufacture of refrigerators, freezers and other similar installations. With the help of a fastener, the joints of pipes are sealed, as well as their thermal insulation. For anticorrosive protection, Scotch tape is usually used 50 mm - this thickness is optimal in the field of manufacturing refrigeration plants.

Double-sided fastener

The strongest adhesive base of the double-sided paint tape makes it possible to apply scotch tape for various construction works. It is firmly attached to wooden and metal surfaces that are not smooth. High adhesiveness allows you to work freely with a rough material.

Scotch paint house is of three types:

  • On a propylene base with a mixture of rubber and silicone adhesive, which it is impregnated on both sides;
  • On a fabric base reinforced with fiberglass fibers;
  • Mirror, able to replace in some cases, even nails or screws.

Painting tape: application

The main goal of the crepe is to protect the surfaces from various types of paints. With its help, the exact boundary between two colors is easily drawn. However, there is much more scope for the application of the painting tape. Here are just a few of them:

  • When working with paint, you can easily and quickly attach the film to protect a large surface;
  • When cutting a tree, chipped, often, to avoid this, it is enough to wrap the place sawing with a paint tape and saw straight on it;
  • You can glue the grooves of the cans to avoid picking paint in them;
  • From a paper tape good stickers are obtained, it is easy to make inscriptions on it, and it tears well enough, and labels can be anything - from books and textbooks to packing boxes;
  • Scotch paint is also well suited for the rapid repair of a torn book, it can glue paper patterns, glue the reverse side folded, attach various holiday decorations;
  • Adhesive side of the crepe can be picked up pile and wool of pets from clothes.

It is not difficult to come up with new areas of application. You just need to connect the imagination and see how wide and varied can be the use of paint tape.
