A year after the end of the war, the Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts began to function again, but already in the premises of an art school. After 12 years, he took the house of the lawyer Petrova, designed by the architect Doroshenko back in the late XIX century. The building is one of the architectural monuments of Rostov-on-Don. In 2009, a department was opened on Chekhov's lane.

Russian art

The Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts at Pushkinskaya is dedicated to the development of painting in Russia in the period of the 17th - early 20th centuries. All stages are presented in a logical sequence, so that visitors can get a holistic view of the development of the visual arts.

Among the later exhibits are bronze castings and snuffboxes made of rock crystal (18th-19th centuries). A unique vase, made in the technique of carving on varnish, is another property of the museum on Chekhov. The boundary of the XIX-XX century is represented by carvings on ivory.

The Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts will introduce visitors to other countries of the East, in particular, to Japan. The brightest part of the exhibition is small sculptures of netsuke. This miniature suspension was an indispensable attribute of the national men's suit. Complementing the collection is the famous tanto knife. Although tanto was considered a dagger samurai, it was worn by women as a weapon of self-defense. The dagger was inserted into an elegantly decorated bone frame, and sometimes masked under the fan.
