Rigging is not so easy

The term "rigging" dates back to the time when sea vessels sailed. Then the so-called system of cables, ropes and blocks, designed to control the descent and lifting of sailing equipment, as well as to move large loads from shore to hold and back. Times change and words take on new meanings. Today, not only the cables and chains are called rigging, but the entire process of moving and fastening large-sized cargoes.

If the load can not be loaded manually because of its large weight or dimensions, then you have to resort to rigging. Rigging usually involves the use of lifting gear and safety devices. In this way, you can move any items, whether it's machines, containers, building materials or even houses assembled. When carrying out rigging, various mechanisms are used: winches, cranes, jacks, loaders and others. Before lifting to a significant height, the cargo must be securely tied with cables or slings, which exclude the falling of objects. This is done both for the safety of the cargo and for the safety of the people around it.

The whole process is more complicated than it looks from the outside. Movable cargoes must be securely fixed, centered, eliminated any possibility of falling or turning objects. For this purpose, special rules have been developed and personnel involved in rigging should undergo preliminary training and have a confirming document with them. Rigging works are classified as dangerous, and their conduct is regulated by a permit-order, which indicates the type and place of work, lists the participants and appoints the person in charge.

A reliable company, which produces rigging, is responsible for the safety of the cargo and the safety of personnel. For this, a contract is concluded with the client, and the cargo, health and life of employees must be insured.

Rigging is very common in all branches of the national economy. In addition to the actual production of work, many companies provide still rigging services. Despite the similarity of names, services are different from rigging. They include packing of cargoes before loading or transportation, manufacturing of special devices for transportation and storage: pallets, non-standard boxes, containers.
