Renovated Batashevsky garden (Tula) invites you to walk after the improvement!

Many geographical names in the Tula region in one way or another are associated with the names of outstanding local residents. A good example is the Batashevsky garden. Tula is a city with developed industry, once there lived as many as two families of factory owners Batashevs. Who and when laid the garden, which turned into a unique city park today?

Pages of History

The most famous in Tula is the family of Batashevs, who were engaged in the production of samovars. In fact, the "samovarschikov" had no less outstanding namesake who built the hammer water and blast-furnace plants. The land near the Tulitsa River became the property of Ivan Timofeevich Batashev in 1709. It is a question of the place where the Batashevsky garden is today. Tula in those days was much less than today. And this area was considered a remote suburb. Originally the site was used for production needs, but very soon a farmstead was built here.

In the 1830s Batashevs impoverished and sold most of their property, including the Batashevsky Garden. Tula gradually expanded, and the green recreation area, located not far from the official border of the city, began to attract the attention of local residents. However, the chic park area did not have a master and gradually came to desolation. The situation changed in 1924, when Batashevsky Garden was renamed into Demyan Bedny park and landscaped. For about 50 years, the recreation area flourished and was popular among the Tula people. In 1978, it was once again renamed the Park of Culture and Rest of the Proletarsky District. The period of decline began closer to the 1990's. The recreation area was left without regular care. By 2010, the park resembled a wild and not the cleanest forest.

Return of the natural-man-made landmarks to the city

This is hard to believe, but in the city by the beginning of the XXI century there were several badly abandoned park areas, including large enough in area. Among them is Batashevsky Garden (Tula). Where there is a park with such a name, many native inhabitants of the city did not know. Such a situation is unacceptable for a region with developed industry and not the most favorable ecological situation. In 2014, works were begun to improve the territory of Batashevsky Garden.

In the course of the works a new bridge was built across Tulitsa, asphalt paths were laid, lanterns, benches and urns were installed. Attention was also paid to vegetation: old trees were dusted, garbage was cleaned and bushes overgrown. The government of the Tula region assures that all this is just the beginning. Accomplishment of the recreation area will be continued, and today it is returned to its historical name - Batashevsky Garden. Tula has found a new recreation area, in which local residents are already walking today.

Unique ecosystem

While Tula officials promise to supplement the park with attractions, public catering points and other entertainment, local ethnographers sound alarm. It is important to understand that it is not just a question of the site of green plantations, but of a unique ecological complex. Here rarest plants grow, many wild animals have chosen for permanent residence Batashevsky garden (Tula). Where there is a rest area, many residents of the city already know today, and in the park it becomes more noisy. But Batashevsky garden has a unique landscape, in addition, there is a river with a calm current. In this area, hedgehogs, squirrels, beavers, and even marsh turtles are included in the Red Book. In the green zone grows more than 200 species of plants, many rare birds nest. Tula regional specialists call not to turn a unique park into a noisy entertainment place. Leaving the zone reserved and keeping it for posterity is the best solution.

"The Second Tsaritsyno?"

Much of the work on the improvement of the recreation area has already been completed. The organizers of the project voiced the idea to turn the Tula "Batashi" into "Second Tsaritsyno". It is about preserving the unique natural landscape and complementing it with decorative elements. This idea provokes the approval of the Tula. Many residents of the city say that they would like to see the park and then quiet and calm. Today, we can only hope that the Batashevsky Garden will develop as a natural and not an entertainment recreation area.

Batashevsky garden (Tula): how to get to the recreation area?

The park is located on the border of Zarechensky and Proletarian districts of the regional center. Officially Batashevsky garden (Tula) has the address: Tokarev street. There is no exact numbering, since too long the recreation area was in desolation, and there are no buildings on its territory. But believe me, if you are on the right street, you can easily find the park you are interested in. To get to the street. Tokarev can be used by city buses Nos. 1, 11, 36, route taxis Nos. 32, 51, 66, 123 and trolleybuses No. 4 and 6. From the stop, you will need to go down along Tokarev street.
