Rakhat Aliyev: a bright life and a strange death. Biography of Rakhat Aliyev

Some people almost from birth have everything, but always strive to get even more. Some of them end their lives in solitary confinement in an Austrian prison. Yes, this is similar to the plot of a soap opera, but at times life breaks down and not such a "knee". The ideal confirmation is Rakhat Aliyev, the former son-in-law of Kazakhstan's President Nazarbayev. He lived an amazing life. However, even his death left many questions, many of which still do not have answers. Until now, many in Kazakhstan itself believe that this was the murder of Rakhat Aliyev.

How did it happen that the applicant for the presidency of the former Soviet republic suddenly turned into a lonely man languishing in a prison cell? Can we extract some instructive information from the history of its take-off and the subsequent fall? I guess, yes. Rakhat Aliyev, who was found hanged in his cell, in many ways himself reached such an end. But many features of his character were formed in those conditions that are typical only for the Central Asian republics, formerly part of the Soviet Union.

Kazakhs themselves are personally unambiguous about Aliyev's personality. Those who are interested in politics remember perfectly well about the fate of the members of the leadership of Nurbank, the rest can remember the fact that it was the presidential son-in-law who actually disorganized all Kazakh football. The time that he held at the post of chairman of the Football Association, there is described as "the era of bribes." Money from the budget, allocated for the development of the national team, disappeared without a trace, equipment was not purchased, sports facilities were not built and not repaired.

Unfavorable features

Kazakhstan is the first former Soviet republic according to its incomes. There is a developed oil and gas industry and very high GDP per capita. It is not surprising that foreign investment flows into the state. Investors are also very interested in the development of the banking industry, which allows to receive huge profits. One of the key figures in his time was Zholdas Timraliev. He served as the chief deputy of the president of "Nurbank".

This institution was presented by the "godfather" to his son-in-law. Rakhat Aliyev, as the Kazakh investigation claims, shamelessly robbed the bank, incurring huge sums in offshore. This caused serious damage not only to the economy of his country, but also to the reputation of the bank, which, due to the unfair actions of its leadership, seriously diminished foreign investors. Even the patronage of Nazarbayev himself did not help.

It was not a secret before: in Kazakhstan, this institution was known not only as the largest state bank, but also the financial "pocket" owned by Rakhat Aliyev. But only foreigners could openly joke about this to themselves, since the Kazakhs themselves had quite the consequences. Zholdas Timraliev knew about this. In 2006, he was "on horseback" and could count on a cloudless future, but the circumstances were different. Rumor has it that Zholdas at one time wanted to flee his native country ... He did not have time.

In 2007, he was guilty for his boss. The details of that history are unknown, and there is simply no one else to know better. For the first time Timraliev was lucky, as he came alive from the president's son-in-law. As he later told his wife and investigators, Aliyev personally tied him to a sports simulator. And then he beat me. Too personally. The second meeting was much less successful. It's unclear what exactly Rakhat Aliyev wanted, but Zholdas's career ended there. After the visit, no one else saw him alive.

Mysterious deaths, terrible murders ...

The investigators found out that the main requirement was the re-registration of all the property of Zholdas in the name of Rakhat. What is characteristic, as a result of torture or threats, he did this, even more enriched Aliyev. That's just the life of Zholdas it did not save: until the end of 2011 the police had no idea where his body rests. The main person involved in the case at that time lived comfortably in Austria, and therefore could only reveal the secret by accident. At the end of the year, the neighborhood of Alma-Ata was shocked by a horrific find: two barrels, in which terribly mutilated fragments of two bodies floated. It turned out that it was Zholdas Timraliev himself and Aybar Khasenov, the manager of the ill-fated Nurbank. He disappeared at the same time.

The investigation immediately reminded Aliyev that in the recent past he was suspected of being directly involved in the murder of journalist Anastasia Novikova. Aliev's former lover was simply dropped from the ninth floor directly onto the bars of the armature, sticking out of the ground. Already after that monstrous murder, many Kazakhs did not doubt the "authorship" of the customer, but preferred to keep quiet. Initially, they tried to expose the case as a suicide, but there were a few unpleasant oddities.

Firstly, Nastya was shaved out of the head. Secondly, her body found traces of cruel torture. Thirdly, in the blood of the murdered (and in this there was no doubt before) found a huge dose of psychotropic drugs, which ordinary mortals simply do not have access to.

The beginning

A chain reaction was launched, which led to a loud fall of the president's son-in-law. Armangul Kapasheva, the wife of the tragically dead Timraliyev, loved her husband. She in every possible way turned away from those "well-wishers" who generally advised to forget about the person who existed in her life and "to live on". It is not clear how the woman did not disappear herself, but she managed to achieve her goal. Despite the frank slips of the investigation, the investigation into the disappearance of Timraliyev was nevertheless taken up closely.

Rakhat Aliyev himself, whose biography is examined in the pages of this article, then escaped trouble. But 17 people from his immediate circle were promptly sent to the bunks. Aliyev (who by that time had become an ambassador in Austria) took the standard step in such cases: loudly announced to the whole world that he "suffered for democratic values" and asked to save him from "political persecution". The rest of the events were reflected in the press of those times. Nazarbayeva Dariga, who was Aliev's wife, immediately divorced him. In 2008, the Alma-Ata district court sentenced the ex-head of "Nurbank" not only to confiscate all property, but also to twenty years of strict regime colony.

At that moment, the sweet life of the former presidential son-in-law ended: he instantly lost all his money, his accounts were frozen, and his "friends" instantly turned away from the former comrade. Since 2009, he was officially known under the name of Rakhat Shoraz, since Aliyev took the surname of his second wife.

Features of Austrian Justice

How could such a man as Rakhat Aliyev have been in prison? His biography was not very joyful: a new country and a new family of happiness did not bring him. In 2014, Kazakh authorities filed a petition for his extradition from Austria. Fairly afraid of not too warm reception at home, he surrendered himself to the Austrians, wanting a "democratic court" and imprisonment in a convenient cell in a Viennese prison ... He hardly hoped for such an end, but a couple of months later the former president's son-in-law was in a noose.

However, the Austrians themselves Aliev hardly would have thought of at least something to blame. Since the beginning of that epic, the government of Kazakhstan persistently "bombarded" Austria with demands for the extradition of a runaway diplomat and murderer. But the government of the European "democratic" country constantly found reasons for refusal. All wrote off the shortage of the very "democracy": ostensibly in Kazakhstan they can not "dispassionately" deal with the Aliyev case. About the fact that he was involved in the terrible death of several people, tolerant Austrians preferred not to remember.

The situation could not save even the "godfather" himself. Rakhat Aliyev continued to give snide interviews about his "struggle for the ideals of democracy," not forgetting to "rinse" Nazarbayev himself. The role of political martyr in the modern world is very much appreciated!

The book as a weapon

Back in 2009, the book "Godfather" by Rakhat Aliyev was published. In it Aliyev, who by that time received recognition as "head of the Kazakh opposition", uncovered many facts that are, in fact, a state secret of the country. Including, on its pages you can find fragments of secret telephone conversations and business correspondence. The author paid much attention to Nursultan Nazarbayev himself, presenting it in an extremely unfavorable light. Not surprisingly, the book was immediately banned in the country.

Many politicians do not doubt that the publication of this material is one of the links in the events that took place after the removal of the US "Manas" base from Kyrgyzstan and the attempted coup d'etat in the same place. The thing is that Nazarbayev then officially spoke in defense of the president of Kyrgyzstan in response to the attacks of the "democratic" states of Europe and the United States. It was very beneficial for someone to create dirt on him ... It was a kind of "self-depreciation" of Rakhat Aliyev, when an impure diplomat tried to "fly" again, whitewashing at the expense of his political rivals and even his father-in-law, who owed everything to everyone. Someone might say that Aliyev had reasons to attack him ...

Do not judge, and you will not be judged

Of course, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is not an angel with a halo above his head. In general, like all people. Almost all domestic and foreign political scientists agree on one thing: Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation are very fortunate that after the collapse of the USSR the former republic was headed by this person. He did not send his country to "swim" in the stormy waters of the civil war, as happened in Tajikistan, did not arrange a massacre of dissidents and non-Russians, as happened in Uzbekistan. Actually, even the evil-doers agree that before the personality cult of "Turkmenbashi" he is far away.

All other countries of the Central Asian region (with rare exceptions) have turned into total dictatorships with a bias in medieval feudalism. Nazarbayev managed to prevent this. Kazakhstan is one of the few countries in the region where there is a secured middle class where political rivals are not sent to rot forever in prison, they are not happy with forest excursions with a one-way ticket. They act in a civilized way, playing them out in the political arena. It is not surprising that those forces that are in favor of total destabilization of the geopolitical situation in the world are very unhappy with this circumstance.

How it all began

But the beginning of Aliev's life did not foreshadow the metamorphosis that happened to him. He was born in December 1962. His father was Mukhtar Aliyev, an excellent physician, academician and honored citizen of the Kazakh Republic. The boy received an excellent education, grew curious and seriously prepared for the career of a professional doctor, deciding to continue his father's business. Even skeptics acknowledge that Rakhat Aliyev and Dariga Nazarbayeva really agreed on love in due time and their marriage was real.

She herself recalled that she had met her future husband for the first time before the most important exam. Rahat then came to the next room with his friends. Dariga did not wait for anyone, and so she went to the door disheveled, with her eyes swollen and red with sleepless nights. And at that moment I saw a young green-eyed man. She admitted that at that moment she firmly understood: "Something will surely happen." Indeed, soon the son of Rakhat Aliyev, Nurali, appeared from their union.

The case took place in the mid-80's in Moscow. Like many in the post-Soviet space, Rahat decided to quit medicine in the midst of the hard 90s and start business. At that time no one had spoken ill of him yet. In a man who was scared to death in Kazakhstan, he was not yet turned. At that time Rakhat Aliyev and Dariga Nazarbayeva were a loving couple, life was hard, but all looked to the future with hope.

Because of what happened "rebirth"?

What provoked such a sad outcome? Most likely, the matter lies not only in the personal qualities of this person, who have been hidden for the time being. They developed for the simple reason that all the necessary conditions were created for them.

Peculiarities of Central Asian Policy

The fact is that modern Kazakhstan is the country in which much depends on the first person of the state. In fact, there is one really effective political "institution" - the president. And this is quite expected, based on the mentality of the nationalities, who live in the state. This same circumstance automatically puts the president in the center of the situation, when around him there is always a huge number of intrigues. Surely Rakhat Aliyev, photo of which is in the article, was by no means the first of those close to whom they spoke ill. How to understand who is really to blame, and on whom only slander? It is very difficult to do this, if at all possible.

This situation inevitably leads to the fact that the ruling elite relies on their own family and people close to it. If even such people can not be trusted, then who can you rely on in this world at all !? In short, everything turned out to be trivial. If in the country the only credible capital is the complete trust of the leadership, to whom could the burden of responsibility Nursultan Nazarbayev be entrusted? Rakhat Aliyev was not only a devoted son-in-law, but also a person with a good past and a good family ... Unfortunately, this did not help him resist the many temptations that gave him such a position.

Why did special services react so late?

For a long time now it is known that money that gets easily and is not earned by one's own labor, easily corrupts people. Presidential trust and authority became the straw that broke the camel's back in this case. The further, the stronger the Kazakh business felt, that for the person Rakhat Aliyev. Whether he was killed in an Austrian prison or hanged himself, he does not change his business: very many companies of the neighboring country after his flight from Kazakhstan sighed much freer.

Why, then, did Nazarbaev ignore his antics for so long? Where were the secret services, which were simply obliged to report to the first person of the state about those dark affairs that his son-in-law is engaged in? In many respects the answer lies in the fact that not everyone can say something bad about those people whom Nazarbayev considers part of his family. But the reason is not only this. It would be naive to believe that Aliyev once did not conduct serious work in the law enforcement agencies, having seated his proteges on all responsible posts. They easily let go of any facts obtained by their subordinates. One more circumstance we revealed above - leading personalities almost every day tell something impartial about their associates. Not all information in this case can be trusted.

It was the combination of all these factors that led to the appearance of Aliyev in the form in which he was mortally afraid of enemies and opponents in the vastness of Kazakhstan. As a man he died, but how the phenomenon, unfortunately, lives. By the way, about his death. What arguments suggest that Rakhat Aliev hanged himself without outside help?

Oddities of the Austrian prison

First, immediately after falling into an Austrian prison, which many domestic liberals would certainly have thought of as something of a branch of paradise on earth, the runaway diplomat faced the unpleasant peculiarities of local life. He immediately began to apply for transfer to a solitary confinement, motivating it with beatings and pressure from cellmates. Aliyev claimed that they "shook" him three thousand euros, of which he, through his lawyer, handed over one thousand.

Themselves, the sitters later claimed that the prisoner Aliev voluntarily gave them this money for "help" in communicating with the leadership and supervisors. Ostensibly Rakhat did not know English well, and therefore could not speak. It seems that everything is right: a native of Kazakhstan really could not know English at the proper level, that's just ... He was the plenipotentiary ambassador of Kazakhstan in Austria, he was constantly present at meetings and briefings in the OSCE and other organizations, quietly communicated while traveling abroad . And this man does not know English to talk to the prison administration? It is believed in it is bad.

So who killed Rakhat Aliyev? Is it really the Austrian prison "concept" that is to blame here, or was it simply "pulled out" by those to whom he delivered so many problems while being at large? Alas, but we hardly know the answer to this question, since all parties to this mysterious case (for obvious reasons) are not too interested in a detailed investigation of this incident.
